In all the ages, it was about people. We make "times" as they are, by either action or inaction. Some people have a "louder voice", some people have the "stronger arms".
But all of us responsible to some degree, though I would say: proportionally to our "powers". And devs, here, have the ultimate authority and the proportional amount of responsibility.

Your comment seemed to imply a sort of judgement on the quality of the people who “take refuge” in these worlds, whereas from my point of view, one can draw a conclusion about the nature of the “times”, that is, about the quality of all of us.
