Is this even skill issue?

Postby Luno » Thu Apr 16, 2026 6:38 am

I have come to notice by now that despite how many hours I may have on some other games, Haven is the one i have the most stories to tell. I don't have nearly as much to talk about in Ragnarok or Runescape despite how many more hours i have spent on those games, or after playing DotA for like 8 years back when i was a kid.
However, i have many memories from this game, and this is the newest one.

The story starts with Wowgain, my haven wife Faithma and me getting KOd by rats in a dungeon thanks to crash.

We were looting some dead village that had like, 3 rat dungeons inside. After getting KOd we decided we should start looting what we had cleared so far instead of completing the dungeons.

Image

While going back and forth with the wagon, i started checking out the roads from this village, finding a bunch of stuff on their mammoth trap and whatever other village that connected to them.

Image

One of these village had an active pclaim, which left behind a trespasser scent.
Some hours later, someone shows up at the dead village, riding a horse, we are both spooked by the player alarm, except I run at him while he gallops away.
I tried to raw hide him, but he was too far, which made me raw hide my own wagon horse only. I sprinted to try and catch him despite hopeless that I could get to the guy, but instead of galloping away a minimap or two and then hearth, he decided to hearth just outside of my screen, giving me more than enough time to approach, raw hide and aggro him.

Despite being wounded, wearing bronze and bone greaves, while the guy was wearing full steel, b12 and a troll helm, i still decide to fight, but not after messaging and calling Wowgain, who was nearby AFK after killing half of their animals, assuming he would help me in the 2v1.

Image

I believe that my message was very clear, but somehow he didn't seem to access the gravity of the situation, leaving me to fight the guyu on my own.

After a minute of fight, i notice that he was not closing any red, i couldn't believe my eyes, and sent "awkward" in chat.
He was wearing a lot of UA gear and used bloodlust, but he only used QB and Cleave the whole fight.

Image

He tried to fight for a bit but after realizing he couldn't beat me, he tried to run away, all while begging me to spare him:

Image

I KOd him twice, once inside the water, i have no idea if i could have killed him, he had too much con to drown this close to land i believe.

As you can see from the two screenshots, he also had double my health, i belive this is around 1000 con? My HP, as shows the screenshot, is that of someone with 290 con(i worry too much about my hunger).

My wounds after the fight:

Turns out the guy was tracking my trespasser scent.

And finally, my armor during that fight:

tbh that is surprisingly normal

so many nerds 100% buy into the idea high stats always equals win, then when you kill them on a char with 1/5th their stats they will with complete sincerity complain that you had higher stats + no life

Eating food and cheesing PvE are different skillsets from PvP. It's entirely possible he built that character "legitimately" but simply had no idea how to PvP.

On the other hand, offering 5 tokens when you start losing a fight, does sound like something that would be said by a person who bought a Haven character.
