Xanadu: Proclamation of Herule

Postby farbror » Thu Oct 15, 2009 2:29 am

By decree of The Grand Council of Xanadu,
In Name of The Hearth Eternal,
To whom it may concern,

Let it hereby be known, throughout the Hearth, that ascendant Xanadu, calling out from the mighty Abora, roof of the world, proclaims The Peace of Herule throughout all lands in the eastern supergrid. Any Hearthling, or groups of such, who wish to secure for themselves the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of stuff, are free to claim whatever lands are still left unclaimed in the grid. All claims and persons in the grid are, effective immediately, under the complete and total protection of the Hounds of Xanadu. Xanadu calls on all the free Hearthlings of the eastern supergrid to sumbit maps of their Claims to the Scriptorium at Xanadu. In the event of a conflict between two or more parties in the eastern grid, Xanadu offers to mediate. Any disturber of the sacred peace of Herule will be met with swift justice. Anyone who wishes to report a disturbance of the Peace shall do so to the acting lawspeaker at Xanadu.

Xanadu bears no ill will towards existing villages in the grid, who shall remain in operation as functioning and independent political entities, under the protection of Xanadu.

In addenda, Xanadu also lodges a formal diplomatic complaint, with the Village of Chernobyl, regarding reports of repeated threats -- grave and serious threats to life, liberty and stuff -- against a cub of Xanadu's, warri. Xanadu advises the leaders of Chernobyl to:

- Refrain from a further escalation of hostilities directed at warri and, by implication, at Xanadu.
- Explain her reasons for violating the sanctity of her fellow Hearthling, and the tradition of peace.

Xanadu fears that any failure to comply with these requests, humble in nature, will force the hands and feet of Xanadu down a path they do not wish to tread. May Chernobyl yet be swayed by the better angels of her nature.

In Hearth's Light,
Jesse James, First Lawspeaker at Xanadu

Is it possible to be guided to the eastern supergrid by a current resident? Although I am not the strongest of men, I wish to brave the world, in search of fame and glory.

Um, are you saying you want to know where the eastern supergrid is? It is east of the central supergrid.

No, I want someone to physically take me there and offer me proctection from nature until I can set up.

Also, I quickly whipped this up. I felt it was fitting:

As the traveller wander the streets, he happened upon a flyer that looked tattered and worn.
He read it the best he could. The ink smudged, but still legible. It stated
"By decree of The Grand Council of Xanadu,
In Name of The Hearth Eternal,
To whom it may concern,

Let it hereby be known, throughout the Hearth, that ascendant Xanadu, calling out from the mighty Abora, roof of the world, proclaims The Peace of Herule throughout all lands in the eastern reaches. Any man, or groups of such, who wish to secure for themselves the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of fame, are free to claim whatever lands are still left unclaimed in the area. All claims and persons in the region are, effective immediately, under the complete and total protection of the Hounds of Xanadu. Xanadu calls on all the free men of the eastern reaches to chart maps of their claims and give them to the Scriptorium at Xanadu. In the event of a conflict between two or more parties in the eastern reaches, Xanadu offers to mediate. Any disturber of the sacred peace of Herule will be met with swift justice. Anyone who wishes to report a disturbance of the Peace shall do so to the acting lawspeaker at Xanadu. Xanadu bears no ill will towards existing villages in the land, who shall remain in operation as functioning and independent political entities, under the protection of Xanadu.

In Hearth's Light,
Jesse James, First Lawspeaker at Xanadu"

At first, the traveller laughed
"Ha, Xanadu, sounds like rubbish to me"
He tossed it aside in a ball and continued down the streets. The paper seemed irelevant to him, and he put the thoughts of it in the back of his mind. As the man walked down the main road, and through an alley of houses, he saw more of these flyers. They confused him so, and after passing them, they wouldn't leave his head. He walked to the inn, the Golden Nymph, and sat for a pint. As the bartender gave him a mug. He questioned the pecilular papers. The bartender only knew a little about them. Apparently it was some cult that was going to travel deep into the land and set up an encampment and live there. The traveller felt a strange complusion to seek out this man. He gathered his things, and decided that in the dawn of the next day, he would travel to the eastern reaches, and settle under the name of Xanadu.
tl;dr I wrote a silly story describing how I felt when I first read Farbhor's post.

I'm a little confused by this request. By the eastern supergrid, you mean the supergrid directly to the east of the RoB supergrid, correct? By "free Hearthlings" do you mean everyone, or just people who aren't affiliated with a governing body? By maps, do you mean in-game or out of game? If in-game, do you mean regional maps or local? By claims, do you mean village, private, or otherwise? Do you consider any of this mandatory?
The grumpiest tree you ever did see.

Character: Hamel, previously Chieftain of Ancient Bottleneck, a founding father of the Confederation of Bottleneck. Currently a hibernating soul.

I believe what he means, I could be entirely wrong on this and he will correct me if I am, is that any player East of the main Supergrid is under Xanadu protection. What he is asking is for Regional Maps of the area around you, or a local map of your area. Free Hearthling basically means any player who doesn't want to live under the tyranny of Chernobyl and Delamores choice to extort players of their goods for protection. Claims whether Village, personal or private can offer up maps to better Aid Xanadu in protecting the Hearthlings of the East Grids. It isn't mandatory but it would be nice so as Xanadu and her Hounds can protect the players who want to be free of Tyranny.

This humble farmer exclaims with delight and happiness - I think I'm in the eastern grid already, and very very pleased! Thank you Farbor. And let me know if you folks need material support.
