1)Complaining about saws compared to stones, seems silly. While there should be ways to make knives out of bones and there should also be bone swords, there just isn't, and it works fine that way, you can still reach that point but it gives a decent short-mid-term goal to work for.

2)Making knives out of bone instead of stone would make stone axes largely useless as well as swords meaning you'd now have to carry around one more thing in your silly limited inventory space. Don't know about the rest of these dudes but I'm happy thatI only have to carry my sword and that's that.

Well right now its kind of stupid how there is no knife. If butchering is in the game, than knifes should be in the game to. You should be able to just equipe it to a slot like a peice of armour but still carry a sword around (it would be in your pocket). for the bone knife, you could do a stick, hard leather and a piece of bone. that wouldn't come out toooo high quality.

Still don't know what you meant by village but anyway. What the hell is silly about wanting to be able to have one of the most rudimentary tools known to man? Stone axes do one of the most common things in the fucking game? Chop down trees???????

I think you're missing what I mean so I'll clarify:

Currently bone saws have high quality because they're based off of bones
Bone saws are only for cutting trees into boards
OP wants bone 'knives' so that we can skin/butcher animals with the same 'quality' of items, for example q180 bone 'knife' as opposed to q130 stone 'axe'.

The problem here is that this allows a quality climb in the softcap too easily IMO, I don't see the point in it at all.

While there should be things such as bone swords (Great sword style?) and other such things based on what you 'can' make, I don't think it should be considered in this sort of way without being balanced properly.

Stones as a byproduct of smelting will be useless if stone axes are tossed aside for bone 'knives'.

what is the balance issues with having a high q knife? if nothing else having high q boards presents more of a balance issue, the most you can get from a high q knife is good q leather. High q bone saws let you get high q boards, and those boards can be used for countless more things than a high q knife.

It's supposed to be hard to raise quality quickly. He's saying if they add this, it'll be too easy.

And i'm saying how is the knife any less balanced than the saw?? The boards have way more uses to impact quality on things than a knife would.

Bones balances were heavily weighted, the boards you get are fine now, but you won't be getting past q200 without raising cows AND trees. It re-cycles itself in it's own quality formula and while it's point of base is much higher (around 200) as opposed to stones being fluctuating depending strongly on your saw quality... stone axes limit hide quality, food quality (doing nothing more than stopping FEPs really), and whatever future uses as I'm sure there will be a few more stone axes present.

Leather quality in the end might not present too much of a chance but before you make a suggestion for such a change or +1 it, at least run through what it effects, thinking up "Hey you know what'd be neat? bone/skinning knives!" is cool and all that, but when posting it you should at least take that into consideration and it'd help if you also posted so.

Now, it might very well not change too much in the large scheme of leather, so also take into consideration what you have to do make it, smelt. It takes some of those useless rocks and gives them a use.

Your first paragraph is semi confusing but I think i get the gist of what you are saying, but it seems that your point is kinda moot. You could say the same for the bone knife, in order to get over q200 you would have to raise trees and livestock over 200, it's the same principal that is why I posted it. How many stones get thrown away anyway, I throw full smelters away of q100+ stone all the time, if you need a use for stones think of one. Each person needs one axe unless they loose theirs, so each village needs a handful of stones compared to the hundreds they produce.
