I do believe my cheese has stalled.

I do believe my cheese has stalled.

Some five days ago, I set about on the noble goal of figuring out what the hell Emmentaller is when aged in the mine (at least according to 9th and 10th pages of the Announcements topic as regards cheese). For the past three days or so, it has been quite firmly stuck on a wedge just below 3/4 of the way done. The cellar cheddar I've been working on has done fine, though.

As far as I know, nothing funky's gone on with the cheese rack or that particular area. The only thing that seems likely to have gone screwy are the semi-frequent server crashes of late.

i dont know if its stalled, however i do know it takes a longer time then 5 days to make what your trying to make, as i've been waiting.. much... much longer then that.

Does cheese actually take variable amounts of time to age? I assumed each stage took the same amount of time, but haven't extensively tested. The fact that it's sitting at the exact same point on the little pie-timer for three of those days seems to attest to shenanigans here.

It also seems Vanigo has managed to create the Gouda that results despite most likely having started later than me. I think there's some sort of bug here.

My tasty emmenter has been in the mine for over 7 days now, and its never stalled.. just been moving real slow. And given how long some other cheeses have taken... it doesn't seem to be a bug in my case. If yours truely has stopped, then it might be a bug.
And yes, i can tell you with 99.9% certainty that cheese of the same stage take different times. [maybe gouda doesn't? but the other cheeses do]

From my experience, any cheese that takes an excessive amount of time usually results in Gouda.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Well, still on the exact same tick it's been on all this time.

Guess I'll leave it there a few more days and see if it's moved at all.

I too have noticed inconsistencies with cheese progression. It isn't the overall time, it is the last 1/8th where it gets super slow.

It is, quite simply, so that different cheeses take different amounts of time to produce, with some of them taking an assload of time. Gouda always takes the same time -- 6 in-game days -- though.
