ancient or dead claims

Postby Garath » Wed Dec 22, 2010 7:17 pm

Now this may not sit well with some

But I'm fed up with ancient claims from people who havnt logged on for months to block me. I'm not talking about someone making a claim on a mine far away, even with an alt, but i am against him/her never checking on it again. Or a completely destroyed village, everyone moved somewhere else, but one person left an alt that still covers whatever ground. Or a village claim without any authority. It will decay yes, and it doesnt support flags etc, but it shouldnt support itself anymore at some point

I actually dont know any place where i would benefit. All the produce I have acces to, all the mines will still be blocked, but a person who doesnt check on those mines or produce or anything, shouldnt it be decaying like other land things. Claims should decay when you are offline for a month, and decay over a month. anyone staying away 2 months. No 2 hours to log in just to stop this? no comment. I'm pretty sure my previous claims are gone, but somehow dead peoples claims sometimes are still there? or the claims of people who have moved on

village idol can be destroyed if authority < 50k, then put a new idol over the claim, maybe build a few banners, you can remove the personal claim. a system already in place for taking over of inactive properties

or, if you simply dont want to make a village there, you can have claims disappear after 1 month of inactivity

I think something like this is still needed. I think a system similar to village authority would work fine. Perhaps there could be personal authority. Once this runs out, personal claims can be destroyed, or perhaps they atrophy.

Agreed, stuff that's abandoned should eventually be reclaimed by nature.

Just make it so that a claim needs to be fed a dream every month/week/whatever. Just as proof the user is still active. Doesn't have to require much effort IMO.
