Borders, what the hell?

Postby Loopoo » Sun Aug 09, 2009 2:15 pm

Alright guys. So, recently, I loaded my cart full of Straw Baskets. In those straw baskets, I put all my life earnings into it. Lots of Meat, Leather, Skins, a Pick and Saw and loads of other stuff.

I'm happily chugging along a road, looking forward to getting to this big settlement, anticipated to unpack and start building. As i'm going along, my cart gets stuck on the road, next to the settlement (wasn't exactly next to it, was on the road). I go to pull it back up and be on my way, but I get the "This land belongs to <Settlement name here> announcement.

Now, I would have just left it and walked on if it was full of useless crap like branches. But it wasn't. It's full of all my belongings.

I terminated the Java program, hoping it wouldn't save what happened in the last 5 minutes. Gonna log on now and see where i'm at.

If it doesn't work, please could a Dev / Admin port me AND the cart about 3 screens AWAY from the settlement? Somewhere safe and not dangerous, and somewhere near the road so I can be on my way again. It's pretty darn annoying.

Thanks, hope you help me out soon, I can't do much other than stand around and guard my cart :p

PS: Reason I didn't say the settlement name is because I don't want someone hunting for it and taking all the goods.

For future reference there are two very little buttons down on the left bottom of the screen. One is red and one is white. If you click them they will reveal the borders of claims and towns which makes it much easier to avoid inadvertantly hauling your cart into them.

You can also try contacting the claim owner who probably does not want to hijack your cart and will probably be willing to haul it a foot or two sideways for you to retrieve it. The problem is if the claim owner is inactive, or if their player name and their forum name don't match. It is still worth coming back and checking if they have retreived it for you. Most players will do this when they see one that got stuck on their claim even if they don't know who lost it. The catch is you don't know when they are next coming on so you don't know when to check.

You're not the first person this happened to and you won't be the last. Best of luck....

Dondy, i'm starting to think you're my Knight in shining armor. You always help me out. Thanks mate.

And yes, I fiddled with those damn buttons, I won't do it again. How can I find out who owns the claim? The town is Laketown...

Laketown is good people. They will return your cart.

Try Sami1337. Failing that there is a thread somewhere in the forums on recruiting new people for Laketown, and that might give you a couple more people to try. Also try chatting anyone you might see in the area. If they are on line at the moment, with luck you can get your cart back quickly.
