Idea: Notice Board

Notice Board:

A board where you can put up notices, wanted posters etc and read others.

Pick up a parchment and right click on a Notice board to attach a new post and the notice board window will appear where you can begin making it.
If the Notice board is located on a village claim only the LS and chief will be able to remove(and only remove) other peoples posts on the board, and if it's on a personal claim, same thing. If it's on neither no one will be able to remove posts from it.

Wanted Poster mechanics: either make it possible to set what type of notice you want it to be by a button or make it so if you type "Wanted:" in the title it automatically converts into a wanted poster. The maker must have the scent of the one he wishes to put a bounty on, press the "Add Scent" button and a bag-like window will appear where you can put the scents, trying to put in a scent from 2 different players or more will be rejected. Optionally you can choose to add a reward. Wanted posters can be accepted by perhaps max 8-10 people who needs Ranging and Rage to accept the "mission", when you accept you will receive a stack of 15-20 scents, using up all the scents* or throwing them away will abort your "mission" and you will not be able to accept the same one again for another 24 hours.

*using up all the scents will abort the mission only after 15min in case you used your last scent to summon the wanted player.

Complete Option1: Upon completing the mission a pop up window will appear with a "Claim Reward" button and when you press it you will either receive it in your inventory or it will drop beneath you if you're full.
Complete Option2: Right click on the Notice Board and a "Claim Reward" button will appear.

When someone completes it the bounty maker and other rangers who accepted it will receive a pop-up window saying it's been completed and if the wanted poster is removed everyone who accepted will be notified too.

Notices:

If possible it should be so if you write "Notice:" in the title, the post will appear at the top of the list.
Anyone can add his signature to a notice and the maker will be able to see how many has signed it and add you as kin among other other options, other people will not be able to do this. The signature feature should be available for all posts not just notices.

I've been thinking of this idea for a while now and I think it's a nice way to add a sort of quest system with the wanted posters and good way to keep all your village members up to date, be it that they should fuel the steel or not use the good clay to make bricks. I was thinking of a courier system(like in EVE) too but couldn't come up with anything good.
Anyway, thanks for reading and say if this would totally ruin the game were there are flaws and what there could be to add. :)

The whole parchment/messaging system needs an update, but I don't know if this is it. The "quest" nature of the wanted posters feels really out of character with the rest of the game. Village notices seems reasonable, although I think you're making it more complicated than it needs to be.

I like the signature thing, but the whole wanted system is questing, and quests are for more 'norma;' mmorpgs, not a sandbox game like H&H. but a message board of some kind would be a nice addition, as would being able to have more than 1 line on runestones/parchement.

Search for a thread about 'wanted posters'. Iirc it was by Potjeh. It entails a pocket book you can carry in your inventory and develop a wanted list etc etc. It was very good imo and may change your opinion.

ah yes, something like that would be nice to have. but i don't think the 'quest' system entailed above would work for this game.

I love it. I don't see this as the generic quest theme at all, it is real people putting up actual requests for help, trades, communication, whatever. I think it's a great idea and you put a lot of work in to your presentation and I think it is great.

The add reward feature for wanted posters makes sense in terms of incentive to get someone to take up your request, however I don't think it would work out very well. I assume it would do a check to see if player is dead with the scent, but I don't understand how the reward appears from a notice board. You stored the item(s) in the board and no one can just walk up and take it until the mission is complete? And then how does it determine that YOU are the one who killed the perpetrator? What if someone else who accepted decides to go up and claim the reward after you've done all the hard work.

I just don't see a reward system working like that.

The scent function however makes a little more sense, at least it would probably be possible. This is how I believe it should work: When you are adding the perpetrators scent, you only need one set. Then that scent is binded to the wanted poster. People who accept, will receive the amount of scents they'd normally get from tracking it as if it were on the ground, and normal decay rate applies.

This way, you make the scent available to anyone who wishes to aid you, and it runs out naturally like any other scent would. Of course something would need to be implemented so a player can only take one set of scents at a time, and not store in a container and keep taking them.

Anyways, I did read the original idea as well and I think they are both great. It leaves so many options open for good natured requests for help or a setup to get someone else to do your dirty work for you. I hope to see something like this implemented one day, it would really add to the good vs evil ranger aspect in this game.
