Fertilizer

Postby Colin500 » Mon Feb 14, 2011 11:17 pm

My idea is make a manure.

That will help with " low " quality soil.
manure will make soil up +3 or down -4 when used to much times, maybe can be used once in 4-6 hours.

How to make it? maybe make something look " compost " where player can put all seeds and other things from plants, in about 24 hours full compost make some [ 1-5 ] manure.

PS : Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Poland and need to learn English :p

Ability to Increase Soil Q

Postby Rindelas » Thu Mar 03, 2011 11:05 pm

Just a thought, but I think it's important.. Wouldn't it make sense and be a lot more convenient if there was a way to raise soil q since soil q hard caps crop q? Maybe not an easy way to raise soil q, but a way to control it nonetheless so that it is impossible to settle on a low soil q area and expect to do any sort of serious farming.

oiseewhatyoudidthere.

I still think it's a great idea, it's not as simple as "going out and finding high q soil" and settling there. I want to live where I want to live, and it would be better for the game as well as REALISTIC if there was a way to increase soil q.

sure. this is like the fifth thread about it though. i just merged it with the first one i found. which i may merge with another later. however the fact is that you can still increase your crops past the soil q, just very slowly. the other option is obtaining better starting seeds.

Realistic? How do you figure? Historically, humans lived where it was good to live and not just anywhere they wanted to. At best, with early fire farming, we were able to make completely inhospitable areas temporarily farmable at the lowest soil qualities in jungles. It wasn't until advanced organic chemistry innovations in the 19th century were we able to improve soil quality consistently, if at all. I'm sorry but I doubt you know about the methods to enriching fertilizer with nitrogen, let alone your little hearthling. If you're going to pull the REALISM card, then at least pull it when you're not making things up.
