character gone?

I was logged out involuntarily and when i restart the client, even after logging out and back in again, I cannot continue playing as my previous character. My only option available is to make a new one.

Were you by any chance in a fight when you were logged out? Your character has been killed. Your best option is reincarnation.

Okay, this is odd. I see his character in his house, standing up... but there IS a pool of blood there. I'm confused.

Also, right-clicking him gives the options as if he were actually logged in, but... he isn't. Whatever it is that happened.

It seems that he did indeed starve to death. Due to some bug that I've not quite been able to locate, he is indeed standing up, but I'm pretty sure that he's dead. In 24 in-game hours, he will skeletize, though (and spread his inventory and equipment on the ground around him). I'll keep looking for the bug causing him to stand up, but he's dead, standing or not.
