my problem with this system is its slightly less open and forces me out of my sandbox, and other users. For some it makes it more enjoyable, but lets say i want to build a huge palisade and make cool stuff inside of it and just mess around with the awesomeness that this sandboxed environment offers, now i have to step out of that building and designing sandbox in order to unlock the things i need to continue it. Yes I would get some from chopping the trees, cutting the boards, picking random stuff etc, but it still removes me from what i wanted to do when i log in, which is develop my city.
For the high end players it will not effect them which in my mind is most the mods and the people that jorb and loftar listen to or at least give higher weight to their suggestions, because they are pushing for top quality items and having epic stats LP is a main goal. Many players like the openness that was offered in most the other worlds that allowed them to do w/e they wanted and still progress their character LP secondary.
You have added another step to getting lp that takes away from some of the sandboxed aspects of this game which made it such a gem in the stone pile that is indy games. I am still playing and enjoying the game, but not as much since I cant say im going to build this huge palisade, and then go "i wonder how much lp i have...holy crap thats alot more than i realized, now i can up my carpentry" or w/e, now there is a much larger starting up phase since the lp gain is slower and takes longer in the beginning at least. I am sticking around to see if the lp picks up which i can tell it does, but it still forces me out of my sandbox, maybe not yours....(the ones saying all complainers should just play another game, or the one defending his suggestions)...but for some i feel it takes away from one of the major compelling factors of this game...the closet to pure sandboxed mmo i have seen that was enjoyable...it has now become less sandboxed and more progression driven
for the less inclined to reading new lp system takes away from the sandbox feel for players
added some spacing for effect
