Curiosity and Hard Work

Postby HarryDresden » Tue Mar 15, 2011 11:32 pm

I was wondering, with the induction of this new system, it's become harder and harder to gain LP, and also less realistic. Instead of just studying pine cone cows, is there a possibility of introducing a second system that leads to LP gain through actions. Such as; I cut down a log, and sawed it into boards. I just gained LP in the Carpentry Department! Hooray!

It would also give another reason to use the Sparring system, and learning combat as well as working on Unarmed/Melee.

Just a thought that I'd love to see in a game.

Seems reasonable enough. As long as LP rewards are rather small to make it bad choice for grinding but a nice incentive to specialize.

Yeah, it would add up over time, as well as LP bonuses from Curiosities.

not sure it would fit into certain skills... how do you level up say, for example, stealth? commit crimes on your lands with an alt? or.. just dont commit crimes until we all have 200 stealth?

So something akin to a Ultima Online system then? I believe the point of the new system is also to substantially slow you down. Not that it does. Day 3 and most of us have law speaking, black skills, or 20+ in skills. That or substantially large claims. A mod mentioned that the Devs hated how quickly players breezed through the early stages.

I imagine the LP gain would be quite small, for example 2 LP to both EXP and SUR for picking up taproot. With time would accumulate, but wouldn't give much kick for starting characters.

Devs didn't like that system two years ago. Why would they add it now?

What doesn't the devs like that's already in the game and must be removed (I think) at the next reset?

i was thinking of a good idea maybe when you have done all the new tasks u can to get LP u can sleep. and when u sleep for a good amount of time u can get LP again
OR when u sleep for say 10 mins and log back on u can get LP for doing tasks for 1-5mins and the better the bed the more time u get per min of sleep (u chould have a sleep meter to show u how long u have of LP time)

i do like the way u get LP for doing new tasks after u done everything you get bored as u have to wait for your stuff that your studying to finsh to get LP, this way all u have to do is wait for your Lp but on teh old server u ahd to work for your LP which i liked alot and many other people do.
