I wonder how much of a stress this game puts on the server host that it is run on.
While I am not a programmer by any sense of the word, I, as a player of this game, (and THE GAME which you all just lost, old meme's ftw?) would very much rather play on a server with no perma-death. It's the same lines with why I'll never play Diablo II in hardcore, or any other perma-death alternate portion of a game. The only reason I play H&H in its current form is because I enjoy (well, used to before the world 5 LP change) building a village with friends and becoming self-sufficient. Nothing is more satisfying than watching the progress of several people form into a nicely-built and setup village. And then, only to die in a boar/bear attack or do to a griefer and then lose a week's worth of work (because we were all fairly low key characters) and have to start over was very disheartening.
I admit, I only log on now to switch my curiousities because I've already discovered everything I can and must rely on repeatedly starting at trivial trinkets like spiders or chariots for hours, in hopes that I'll get Yeomanry soon and can find some folks to start a village with. I'm off topic.
Bottom line:
Alternate server without perma-death would be nice, for those of us "care-bear" players who like this game as more of a pioneering sim than a "realistic-man-vs-wildlife-vs-griefer" sim. Some of us just want to play the game without hard setbacks.
