Of course it's possible, we just don't want to. Maybe you read loftar's post?

Not even that if the logs are anything to go by.

Without the threat of death, what is to keep griefers from simply stealing (or vandalizing, or destroying, or fill with simple buildings, et cetera ad infinitum) all that you've made? Permadeath is one of the most fundamentally important aspects of the whole game; without it, pretty much everything falls apart.

Furthermore -- not really related, but it should be mentioned -- I'd generally much prefer not to have different servers at all, same ruleset or not. I think one of the greatest aspects of Haven is its unified, unfragmented world, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Huh. Intriguing. Of course I couldn't see that. ^^;

Momentary digression since you're here; playing this game is helping with my programming. Seeing the constant changes in a language I understand helps me think better about how it's applied. Of course, I'm trying to use my growing knowledge for good, not evil... I could have figured out the LP bug from the nature of the language, but that's evil and I had assumed a stop when an overflow exception was thrown or something. :p

Anyways. If you have an active group of people, death is less of a threat, too. We're rocking several bears and like genociding boars. Just imagine how OP you could get when you had these sudden epiphanies in the old system? I'd have so much LP right now; I never disengaged the bears when I killed them, nor the boars except when they got bored with me when my stones only hit for 2 or something stupidly low instead of 40+.

Griefing takes a bit of effort now, anyhow. But when this game gets truly popular, I guarantee you they'll be about as common as a murderer is in real life, but you may get insane regime villages...

Edit: Apologies for the double post... It got deleted before I got to it though. Stupid ISP or router.

Dawntide is also going to be p2p.

Why, because I push most of the publicity on Jorb. That way, I have to deal less with people and more with computers, which are generally much more agreeable. :)

Permadeath is the reason I'm here, honestly. This guy wants to play a pioneering sim without permadeath? What kind of sim would that be, go play some minecraft...
