The amount of chicken eaten would be phenomenal.

Which would create plenty of whining from people staring while 'winter' is active and established players laughing their asses off since they sit on filled stockpiles.

For this we need seasons like we have on this round ball called earth, so there is a possibility to spawn new characters in a season where they don't freeze to death within 20 seconds for sure (as they would in case the whole map goes sibiria style -30°C winter completely).

bread has a purpose, no-fep hungerfood cause sometimes you want to fill hunger without grinding your stats up at a table

Someone spawning a character durring winter and actually starving as a result would kinda suck but seriously the game has LOTS of ways for you to be screwed by your spawn location (such as being in a AD territory). Also it not nessary for the whole world to be experiencing winter at the same time, it could be that the seasons occour in a 'wave' patern across the world and wilderness spawns occour only in the Spring zone.

Tap root, mulberries, apples, and hazel nuts do that just fine.

not for miners who burn more food than its good for having even stats
though they often lack a bit in con, so its not that bad with your suggestion anyway
