Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

Inks actually have no use now, so drawable paintings and poems as craftable curiositis would be nice anyway.

Wow, lots of replies!

To "miracles": I'm not sure if that's the best word; it implies that these would be something that a Hearthling didn't make. Which, of course, is not the case.

To Reflecting Pond: A reflecting pond is merely a still water feature; its surface is unbroken by water-jets and the like, so as to offer a calm a surface that reflects. Not that there couldn't be a literal "reflecting" pond, of course.

To "Zen Garden": I think that'd sort of break the "theme" of the game. But I wouldn't be adverse to such a thing like it.

To "easily exploitable": I had hoped that I'd outlined the ways these wouldn't be exploited quite clearly, but I suppose not. I don't have a lot of time, though, so might I ask you to reread some of the OP? Afterwards, you may voice your concerns, and I'll try to address them.

To "noob marvels": I dunno. How about a Crude Wooden Effigy? Made with... An ass-load of boards, wooden blocks, and... Rope? Constructable with the Carpentry skill, and of course Animal Husbandry for the Rope. A Hearthling would just look at it for 4 hours, with a base LP gain of 10 every hour.

Thank you for your replies!

As a suggestion having most of the high end "marvels" be limited to villages.

Naturally; as-is, much of the high-end content of the game is limited to villages because of the sheer cost of it.

However, cost and lack of specialization should be the only limiters as to what can be built by whom.

Maybe a little structure for the low leveled players, constructed out of wood and fir and dreams, for meditation purposes?
I wouldn't know exactly what it'll look like, but in general:
- Something 1x1 or 2x2
- Something that gives small amounts of LP gained at the end of it
- Shorter LP gain time at a cost of less LP gained.

Something like a meditation shrine would do...

Also, can marvels enable players to "innovate" their characters through recipes... Kind of like studying but within one's thoughts rather than mental inventory...

Or maybe...

Modify the study system a bit so these marvels can work alongside curiosities...

Studying boats while meditating has a high chance of unlocking a new boat recipe for example, that enables you to seat up to 4 people but can't carry anything.

A example low end recipe that can be unlocked, better Lean-to, better fences, better etc.
Think of it as a way to upgrade low-tier constructions, with the possibility of upgrading high-tier constructions made possible (more effective battering rams, etc).
It can possibly enable upgrades to items too... Like adding guards to sword hilts and such, giving items a "higher ranking" in a way (of course it scales with cost, if you can make a better sword, it'll cost you more).

How about a tomb that can be inscribed with the name or names of village departed?

That might be over-complicating it a bit, sir. There shouldn't be any other benefit to using a Marvel other than the proposed LP gain. I could see a bit of a "junction" with certain curiosities, allowing for a bit of a boost to certain curiosities, but that's as far as it should probably go.

Interesting. Of course, the number of dead inscribed on it would have no bearing on LP; anyone could see how that could be exploited.

lol, it would be a contest of who can make the largest alt-farm
the tomb could be made fairly simply, as in crafting from a rock or boulder, add some ink and perhaps other ornaments to "worship the dead" i.e. pearls or metals <this is also to up the cost a bit> and then you must have lawspeaking and ancestral worship to inscribe on the tomb.

this also gives me the idea for a new skill. religion: this would allow you to go further than ancestral worship, by creating monuments and maybe churches, instead of the simple shrine, as a result it would give you more numen points, or if you interact with say the monument, or something inside the church it would give you the option to pray<on a leaf menu, not like the ancestral one> and while praying you have the lp gain, as you suggested with your marvels, although after a set amount of time logged off you would cease praying automatically
