death protection/ longer newbie protection

death protection/ longer newbie protection

everybody hates starting a new character only to be murdered by a griefer later that day or possibly even later that week.
now on the flip side, EVERYBODY LOVES griefing. and i mean what if someone tresspasses?
how about a compromise?
ability to knock people unconcious but inability to kill them, atleast till they learn some skills to fight back or to give you reason to want to kill them
like melee combat, archery, or the trespassing skill. (and possibly melee combat but that is a little too easy to get, maybe instead of learning the unarmed combat skill it's when you get your unarmed skill up to 5-10 points or something?)

it'd cut down a bit on the learning curve aswell since new people can level in peice without the threat of having to start over in less then 24 hours

So if people steal my stuff or kill a friend with MM I can only KO them?

Seems like a bad idea altogether. :|

a) i love it this way. and im not on the griefers' side
b) if you cant kill nubs, what do you think how bad nubspawn-spam on random/certain claims would be? your suggestion would rather help griefing

also this game is played BECAUSE its that hard. there are tons of easier mmos or games where your risk of dieing is smaller
sure it sucks if your screwed from beginning. but there is always a way to find shelter in some way, be it just moving or - wich i would advise - to join a group

1. dieing in the beginning isn't that bad, you don't lose much.dieings is way worse if you day with a more developed char.

2. If newbys would spend the same time PLAYING instead of thinking of stupid ways to make this game easier or newby safer, they weren't so newbish anymore...

3. What Grog said
