I make both wine and beer for my village. I actually literally have the 20 tiles of hops, 50 tiles of wheat, and 167 tiles of grapes you guys are mentioning. Wine is simpler and requires less infrastructure, but I spend less hours of my playing time when creating beer vs wine. (per litre)

I enjoy the beermaking. The wine that's a PITA. Wine is the first thing I let slide when I am too busy to get all my work done.

So I snorted a bit when I heard you guys saying wine was easier, but I guess if you mean easier to get started or easier to understand... sure.

it's easier to do, there is no errand running to the herb tables, kilns, getting water, fuel. just you, a press, a barrel, and 167 tiles of grapes.

why, its true

making beer is too much hassle for me to bother with when a few buckets of wine are easy to obtain and last one person a good while

Wine is easier to get started and dip in and out of, but I guess if you get into a routine then beer might be easier.

I do think different types of wine (depending on where a wine rack is placed) could be fun, but what benefit would there be?
Personally I think alcohol should make you hungrier, so perhaps after a couple of days on a wine rack in a house it should become a wine which gives the same bonus as normal wine PLUS makes you slightly hungrier, this wine can then be moved to a cellar for a few days to make it better at making you hungrier, and then finally moved to a cave/mine to make you a lot hungrier. You could abuse wine making you hungrier, but as you can only drink so much before becoming drunk, and then passing out it is self controlling. I have never drunk that much (in game) but if you weren't able to log straight back in after passing out then it would be much harder to abuse, oh and a "hangover" debuff, that makes you weaker and reduces stats.

I like the OPs idea of beer giving a small amount of STR feps, I think also including it in fish stick batter could make fish sticks better.

Anyway, off to the pub.
