Back slot for shields

Postby Valten21 » Mon Apr 25, 2011 4:58 am

It's quite the pain to haul that shield around everywhere just to make sure I don't get caught on dodge.... It take's up a lot of space too! I was wondering if it would be feasible to allow us to equip shields to our cape slot? Free up a little invetory space maybe.

Who you want the hand free to do things and how the interface allow you to switch. Lets say you have traveller's sack equipped if you have any item in a square that won't be there then shield won't be equipped. Though I do like the idea.

I'm against this simply because the cape slot has very little use as it stands currently so you're not really losing anything by carrying the shield anymore. I carried the shield and it felt like I was choosing whether to have protection or space, and I enjoyed that choice, it made (and the shields are pretty OP for the small space they take) the choice quite important as I've been caught without it once or twice and it was not pretty.

The same with arrows and bows though really, and/or anyone swapping between bow/arrows and sword/shield, while it's possible when you see someone like Link or some other video game character do it, it isn't something I'd personally like to see and I don't think it's something your common guy would be running around able to do.

This always pissed me off though, hotkeying weapons/shields/armor would be very very nice. Had this in quite a few MMOs, used it more often than most other features.

Almost the same. Just takes some space in inventory. I don't know personally which is better -back slot for shields/bows/etc or this. But imo, it's still a good idea to euip swords/shields in back slot.

perhaps a "belt item" slot where you could have water flask, or a sword sheath, etc, choosing belt attachments for various tool storage (flask, sheath, axe maybe) and save the cape slot for things like shield, sledgehammer (my god that is a inventory beast), pick, bow, scythe, shovel, - other two handed implements.

Yep it wouldn't be bad to have a belt slot for a weapon, a shield slot on the backpack. I don't see why you would have this on the cap slot, its not like you are puting a shotgun in it... Just make an extention slot for the belt and backpack imo.

Yes please. Perhaps not cloak slot though, I think switching it to gloves slot instead of hand slot is better and doesn't make much of a difference.

I believe that Soldier's Gauntlets are better than Monocle when fighting.
