Poison from Toads

Postby Alubag » Sat Apr 30, 2011 8:20 pm

So i had this idea to make toads more useful, giving players the ability to extract poison from them.
I think it would make sense, since most toads in real life have poison glands, and the poison they carry can potentially be lethal.
I searched a bit and found that poison had been discussed already in these threads:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9806&p=106901&

and

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9753&

However, i have a more specific suggestion. Make it so that toads can be boiled in a cauldron together with an empty jar to procure a jar of poison. For example:

3x Image + 1x Image = 1x Image
3 Toads, 1 Empty Jar. Boil it in a cauldron and get 1 Jar of poison

Or it could include Toadstool(s) as well, since they are poisonous. This would make the poison a bit harder to obtain. Example recipe:

3x Image + 2x Image + 1x Image = 1x Image
3 Toads, 2 Toadstools, 1 Empty Jar. Boil it in a cauldron and get 1 Jar of poison

The poison could be used for coating arrows and weapons, poisoning a hated enemy's food/water supply or just drinking it to commit suicide :)

Thoughts?

I would prefer that jar needs to be filled with water and first you need to use feather to toad so you get poison from it (it kinda takes poison from toads tongue).

You need use feather to jar filled with water and then you can use food of anykind with jar of poison to boil it together, after boiling you get poisoned meat (only maker can see that its poisoned or if someone have perception twice as ql of the poisoned meat, then he can see it too) and empty jar.

I think your idea with the feather seems a bit complicated, would it not be easier if one just boiled the ingredients to make the jar of poison, then applied that poison to any object (like weapons or food) with a right click?

Been brought up tons of times, still a good idea IMO.

Licking certain toads (perhaps only shocked frogs) should give a drug effect too.

Guess that was part of my point. (Yeah, know it's been brought up before.) My real point is that poisonous toads secret the poisons through their skin. I don't know of any species of toad or frog that are poisonous outside of tropical areas, but I'm not an expert, so I guess I wouldn't bee too surprised if someone knows of one. However, there are species of salamanders and newts in temperate regions that are poisonous. I'll stop now before I rattle on any more.

or the poison only being able to get from the Shocked frogs, overall the whole idea will just fuck up newbs, at least make it hard to get so they dont waste it that way.
