bulk terraforming/farming

Postby ninja_yodeler » Wed May 11, 2011 12:51 pm

all of this is in relation to this: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=19095&start=20#p223168

what i would like to suggest is a mechanism that allows "the same action to be repeated to adjoining tiles of the same state, without further need of involvment"

1.this is not botting

baseically, as mentioned throughout the entire above thread, it is very tedious and boring, the implication of above idea, would lessen this fact.

in simple terms it means that there is an option, <as mentioned in above thread, control +L for example> which would toggle bulk.

when bulk is not on, gameplay would be as normal.

when bulk is on it would mean that, if were to lay stone in an area of plowed ground surrounded by forest tiles, then, with no extra button pushing, your hearthling would set about to paving all tiles of plowed ground until he either runs out of stone or completes his job.
the same could apply for planting/harvesting <harvesting would stop when you have a full inventory.

pretty self explained, its late otherwise i would expand more.

footnote: another way of doing this, would be to have the toggle bulk button, combined with an option to plot your course, which would work not unlike expanding a claim, except it would not be kept square, this method would allow plowing to be done in this methodf.

thank you and goodnight

You're just prejudice against robots.

thats good, but i wanted this one so it can be done with like plowing and laying stone as well.

not everyone knows how to use/write a bot, this makes it simple for everyone to achieve mostly what they would with a bot, and would also make it "legal"<for want of a better word> because we know that many people <inc the devs> are against using the bots

Devs aren't against bots the way you think they are. Go do some reading on that.
Use a bot for now, if you think it would get fixed any time soon you're wrong, I doubt loftar will even look at HnH for something like this until Salem is done (who knows exactly when tbh).

If you need a crude bot for doing this I don't mind posting one. You'll just have to use Arksu's though, only when running them pretty much.

'tis the thing though, i know absolutely nothing about using bots or how to write them, or arksu's client. i never expected it to be done or even thought about until salem was finished/released, and sorry i must have misread about them not likeing the bots, was a while ago.

but just saying, for it to be part of the game, and not have to be done externally would be nice

Well, there's already bots for this. So yeah, get one of those.

Yes, this was a temporary solution I was giving you, eventually it would be nice to see it done.
