Not everybody abused mechanics. I personally enjoyed gaining LP through the construction and maintenance of my village. That and hunting were the two main ways I gained LP. When I needed a great deal of LP in a short amount of time, I used the most economic way possible, making dowsing rods. One tree could supply a person with about 12k LP. The grinding wasn't fun, but it was there. It was an option. Taking away your players options and forcing them to do one activity is fucking MMO suicide, as evident by your dead game.

Also, it's generally said that once reading the game's forums becomes more entertaining than the game itself (WoW) you've either gotten tired of the game, or there is something wrong with the game. I am very entertained that you all still find this game acceptable.
