I could see this happening now that it seems to keep somewhat of a list of items you've 'discovered'.

The idea (and I like it personally) here is that if you haven't seen something you don't know of it, so you can't attempt to buy it.

well then it could be made so that you can select the item from the crafting menu (i think that there are no items in the build menu that aren't in the crafting too...) or just in case from the inventory too

Thats not what i mean. In the build menu you select the item you want to craft and then it shows you what you need. If you could select the price on the barter stand from there it would be great. I think...

In this case you don't need an extra list from where to select. And i goes hand in hand with the idea a few posts above.

Not all (a good deal in fact) of items are craftable, buildable, or otherwise.
How would you buy in river pearls? Mussels unboiled? Ants? Meat uncooked?

Makks idea is still a good one. It would be nice to have many ways of choosing things: his way, from inventory, from a dropdown list, and by text entry.
