Two critiques.

 Number one: Get rid of the discoveries system. It's complete rubbish. I like the one-time LP bonus for new characters, but having to discover all the goods before you can make something has been a constant pain in the ass for my entire group. From not being able to make sausages due to not having researched intestines, to being unable to build our village totem because we were GIVEN bear teeth (Seriously, I have to harvest a bear with my own hands to make a village?) We're damn lucky I was able to find somebody who would help us. This isn't the first time I've taken one for the team, but come on guys. A game should NOT force one into virtual prostitution to progress.

Discoveries does not improve the game experience. This 'feature' only serves to detriment well-meaning and industrious hearthlings.

 Number two: I know this is probably talked about often, but the server crashes EVERY DAY. Often staying down for hours at a time. I looked around in the announcements forum and all I could find there of note was a REALLY depressing April fools joke where Loftar lied about adding horses. (Shame on you for that by the way.) What's da dilly?

kinda agree with #1 i got decent q metal free of a friend, but could do nothing with it

though sausages is not a good argument. if you have a grinder you should be able to kill a fox.

server has only recently started daily crashes. or at least ive been in a lucky timezone. but you must simply deal with it. hope its only something like a power black out and not an internal problem takeing days to fix :|

I could see the village thing being annoying, but generally I think discoveries are just awesome. The old system dumped a completely arbitrary skill list on top of your head and out of nowhere. Under this system you can always actually execute every recipe you have available to you, since you have at one point or another seen/had the material. The discoveries system gives a more natural sense of progress, and allows the world to hold secrets.

It should be possible to teach others recipes, yes, but that is something else entirely. What do you suggest replacing the system with?

i would suggest that you do not need to discover items to use them, though have the small lp gain for crafting with them for the first time. i.e. you get no lp for picking a branch and chipping a stone, but get your 50base lp for makeing a stone axe out of them.. the hearthling has two ordinary objects, but with a stroke of genius he gets lp for makeing something great out of them..that sounds right to me...

It would just be an arbitrary element of "have to craft everything I discover to get LP". That would be ten times more annoying.
