Saws and bonesaws

Postby SaintGilbert » Sun Jul 03, 2011 8:52 am

Could we have saws be made out of a material that is not so difficult to acquire? I am having a lot of trouble finding animals I can kill, and those I can find run away too easily or knock me out. (I am a newbie.) Without bones, no bone saw. No bone saw, no planks. No planks, my building development is severely limited.

And I have no idea how to go about mining. From what I've read, it seems like I'd need bones for a bonesaw, and planks, anyway.

I think the only reason I am currently liking this game is because I had the good fortune to stumble upon some poor sods' abandoned settlement that had all kinds of unused foods sitting around - pumpkins are definitely my favourite so far. I'm not using his housing, just eating his plants and reseeding his grounds and mine until he comes back (if he ever does).

first thing you need to do is read the stickies in the how do i forum.

next just follow a rabbit around without right clicking it until it goes next to a tree, get on runspeed next to it. when you right click (make sure you have 4 free slots) it runs into the tree and is stuck between you and the tree. so it gets caught. simple.

and what would the other saws be made of. if not bone or metal..

branches would be weird, maybe stone but it would have to suck uncontrollably for balance..

You need to explore a bit. Finding a rabbit isn't hard, and mining is not something you should focus on as a newbie, as it requires a lot of materials and preparations, unless you find a cave in which case its easy to get ore.

First thing you wanna do is raise your exploration, as it gives access to all kinds of goodies, such as curiousities, food, strings, etc, etc.

mining is something for high-level players, not rabbit-hunters.

Like mining is all that hard anymore. Find a cave. Start searching for a spot you can dig. Warning: don't expect to find much until you get good strength or a decent digging tool. You also burn up a lot of stamina, so you'll get hungry fast.

I really can't think of an easier thing to aquire than a bone and a twig... maybe a frog and dirt.

This is a good suggestion. If I could just add another. For rabbits and chickens.... just use your left click to stand directly on the rabbit/chicken. Then right click. There should be no chasing. No fuss. Good luck.

This was more of a "How do I?" thing anyway and I guess all problems have been solved.
