Get back with the good ol' days

Yeah, so I played haven and hearth a while back in World 3, and it was one of the funnest games I've ever played. I honestly didnt mind the grinding at all, I mean whats so bad about reaping rewards for your hard work? I come back to find out that the only way to get LP and progress in the game any more is to do this "studying" crap. I mean honestly who the hell finds out new secrets about life by studying a cow cone??? I come to a game where instead of "playing" and interacting with the game to grow, you just wait on cow cones to give you more LP. At this point, why even "play" at all, if all you're going to be doing is waiting?

I really hope this is just an experimental phase of Haven and Hearth, because the only people that are going to waste their time playing it at this juncture is hard core gaming hipsters. I'm talking about people that value complex style and meaning in video games so much that they dont realize that they're wasting their lives doing nothing. Let's face it, video games are time wasters and we only play them because we're completely bored. If we're going to be wasting our lives playing video games, shouldnt we at least see results from it? rather than waiting a month or so before anything interesting happens. This new style of LP gain may be enough to satisfy those dedicated players (hipsters) who've stuck with Haven and Hearth for its unique style since the very beginning, but I can't see it EVER satisfying new players who are used to the simple, traditional grinding style of most MMORPGS. Its become so far out and different from the traditional grinding MMORPG, that the vast majority of new players will have absolutely no idea how to get anywhere in the game, especially when help resources are scattered and information is choppy. I mean, after about an hour of studying around on the forums and the updated H&H wiki, I've only now finally gained some idea on how to play the new game. Most players are simply not this dedicated, they expect the game to come easy to them and to at least spoon feed them a few basic features to keep them interested.

I mean honestly, who wants to play a game where figuring out how to play is harder than playing the game itself?

There comes a time when complexity and style needs to be balanced out with simplicity, ease of use, and practicality, or just plain fun. Right now this games gone completely to the other side of the spectrum, its based entirely on new ideas and complex combat/economic systems. It's become too unique that most people don't have the time or patience to figure it out. Bring back the good old days where earning LP was old fashioned, simple, and fun.

And yeah one final point: I don't care about macroers, because the only peoples fun they're ruining is their own. I hardly ever meet new people in the game anyways, so why should we be afraid of macroers taking an advantage over us?

Been discussed for a number of times. Once you`re established a bit, you can earn even more LP with less effort. Also, hint: find a village.

Good written! I agree with you, I would only add that new system alone is bad, but if mixed with old system would give more freedom. But as always everyone will spit on you here so wasting your time here pal. People like to bot on alts for materials or foraging for curios and study them safely on mains.
New system was introduced to put botting to stop, but nothing has changed. Now we can even easily get LP for almost no work.
