@Kurundo

The charisma p claim would be nice in my opinion too, but what I'm saying is people shouldn't be able to cheat the system that is already in place. That is basicly what they are doing now, and it is extra annoying when they do it on my foraging mountain.

Fuck you guys proposing this shit until LP starts to reflect actual 75% loss and not ~90%.

90% is still not enough. And current loss is the the way it's supposed to be according to devs, it's just that some people suck at maths.

And yeah, Kurundo, I'd prefer full permadeath, but I doubt we'll ever get that.

Full permadeath would cause even more rage quits from new players then we already see. I just think they should do away with the trad/change slider and make it so u always lose the 75% (which converts to like 90%).

No its that 75% is a damn lie :v

200->50 is not 25% of all the LP invested, it's a pittance, you're getting almost nothing.

You could argue that we need actual PERMANENT death and not some sissy resurrection system, sure, I'd argue that actually.

But in that case just make it 0% and be done with it. If we have any form of resurrection though, we need to start keeping our damn kin lists.

it's not 75% of LP, it's 75% of skill values

Right which is gay, and stupid because you get 75% of unused LP, and 75% of LP gone into actual skills, but derp herp skill values are special and are 75% of skill values instead of 75% of LP like every fucking thing else.

Feels like we all get punished. :( At least stronger guys have more einher.

Now if only einher actually changed based on if the character who died was trad or change... :^)

I do agree with DoG on the LP loss. When you do the math, the total loss is around there, not to mention the time taken to get attributes up. Even at full tradition, the loss is bigger than the 25% stated for the same reason. When I first read the death penalties for full change, I had never thought of the hidden LP loss of the cost of raising those skills back up again. For some reason I thought it had read differently (forget what I thought exactly).

However, I'd still be one to play no matter how much of a death penalty there is. I like the ancestor concept (even though it's not fully fleshed out, imo) and how hardcore things get.

In the end, you're the one that decides what sort of penalties to accept when you die. You might argue that it is no decision, but when you realize how many LP you have between all characters you've inherited from and how many you've had to spend, there might be a real balance there. I've yet to die since shortly after this world started (made a big mistake with a bear and a small claim). Full change has paid off for me for the time being. I've been considering sliding back to neutral recently just in case I do get killed in a raid or something (cause I'm not going to die to an animal or drowning any time soon).
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
