I don't know, some things that might be annoying could actually make the game more fun. Removing teleportation might seem like it would make things difficult, but it also would open up new possibilities for adventure (w4 I spent some a few days a few supergrids away from my village, without the possibility of porting back and forth. It definitely made the distance between us more important.) Imagine playing without the light hack. It is tougher because it makes mining and cave foraging require more effort, but this is very different kind of effort from something monotonous, like the effort it takes to fill a tanning tub from a well. These are the kinds of difficulties that can make a game more fun.

Another good example would be attacking animals. Traveling overland has a very different feel in a world where animals attack (and nowadays kill you) compared to past worlds where it was pretty safe.

On that same line, I'd like to see less rivers in general. It's hard to find places that are more than a few screens away from the waterways, and doubly so if you're not at the corner of a supergrid.
