Neither of these will really create a siege mechanics than creates a balanced an interesting gameplay. Really, seiges and warfare need a multiday system of erecting a seige hut, engines, banners etc. While drying time for the battering ram(s) should be increased.
Essentially Seige mechanics should come down to who invests the most resources BEFORE the battle begins with a clear timer for ETA: FIghtZ
"Resources" invested into a seige/defense cann offer buffs (temporary expendables and full battle long, more expensive and less powferful) Buildable weapons etc.
I'd rather wait for a new system that can create a system like this or similar for allowing battlefield attrition to apply to resources put toward the battle effort rather than just people. As it stands the system is just balanced to facvor the defender because favoring the offense would allow the most powerful factions too many PK options inside a shitty system only they can truly exploit.
