Allow you to delete a character

Postby Saurbaum » Sat Sep 17, 2011 9:52 am

It's a simple thing but as a new player I logged into a server and managed to drop and item behind the starting chest. After trying for a while I couldn't pick it up and had to head shirtless into the world.

Started another and logged into a world with the main spawn area all owned and I'm stuck in a wall. Two characters already stuck.

You can play shirtless, honest~! You can even make shirts as you keep playing. If need be, you could have lifted the chest up with Adventure -> Lift to have gotten to the sweet, sweet linen clothing behind it.

I'm not sure why there isn't a delete character button -- presumably to minimize griefing via hacking. As it is they need to log in and leave evidence to killing you.

Not that it isn't already easy enough to raise a criminal alt and hide its tracks, but simply deleting it would make things even easier.

The delete function should only work on characters that have been inactive for 1 month or so. That way it can't easily be used for hiding tracks or griefing, but would allow me to clear out all the clay-digging alts I used at the start of this world that are still cluttering up my account.

Swimming, much? That'll clear up your roster real quick.

It costs you investment though. Not much and of course it is a mere technicality to say there is a difference in swimming and a deltee char button, but still.

just take off shoes/clogs, sprint around in the forest till you meet a bear/boar or wait for starvation, no costs.
drinking water would speed up your starvation process if you want to do it fast.

imagine what comes next once devs actually decides to put "delete char" button?
a group of whiners crying out "omg, i misclicked and deleted my main with a gold bar in my inventory!"

i came to think this way, this is a game with perma-death after all, you need to either die or choose to live :D

Sure, but then you have to stare at all those damn runestones in the character creation room!

That's likely part of the reason why you can't delete the character -- then you lose access to inheriting and that's a big deal. Some way to remove those stones would be nice.
