Ants... Deadly?

The fact that ants can actually kill is... well, scary. Knocking unconscious is one thing, but after that, they can reduce your Hard HP to 0. Boom. Character deleted.
Does anyone else think this is a bit of overkill? I mean... they're just ants!

You're thinking of westernized ants. Most ants in the world actually do kill and consume anything that enters their path, including humans. Africanized and fire ants are also capable of killing humans and these are on the smaller end of the spectrum. God help you if you're in the path of an army ant stream.

I know ants can be deadly in real life, but from a gameplay perspective... I dunno. To me it seems a little crazy.

I'm not sure what case you're trying to make for them to be non-lethal?
The game is purposefully meant to be lethal as it's a survival game. Why should the fauna be non-lethal?

I get what Pogg is saying, with so many things out to get out and can kill you already, like boars, bears, deer, rats on a stick, water, not knowing Russian, etc., he's saying "throw us a bone here, man." However, I'm with Tech here on this one.

I think that Cockrels should be able to kill you too, having been attacked by one IRL I know the sort of damage they can inflict. OK maybe KO, not kill, but they should fight back.

If you're talking about male chickens, then yeah I agree. They should have atleast a little bit of combat ability. It would be funny seeing them try to defend their flock from foxes too. :D

as someone who has had a char killed by ants, I agree it seems a bit silly. as there are types of ants that can kill people I understand the concept... but atleast slow them down, a person's legs are way longer than an ants legs, meaning people can move way faster than ants

make them move at crawling speed

Ants do move at crawl speed. You can literally crawl away from them and they won't catch up with you. You can raid an ant hill, go pick up your boat, and outpace them.

how sure are you about that? I usually keep my speed set to walk and ants are always on my heels when I'm running away from them...or does agility affect movement speed? wearing lots of nettles now :?
