You can't farm blueberries IRL, so why should it be possible in game? (you may have heard of farms of American blueberries, but that's a different kind of berry from the one in haven)

I'm against the idea just because blueberries and chantrelles are some of the few things a newbie can use as a trade good. Being able to cultivate them would just make it so you could hide in your walls and farm what you need, remove any potential trade demand for the item (and low level trading needs to be much more encouraged in game, it's already so limited).

Being able to cultivate foragables would just increase the monopoly established factions and settlements have over hermits, nomads, and newbies. And already the ease of resource monopolization is a major problem with the hearthlands as it is, with a static world size.

Edit: also, I already have a "blueberry farm": I have barter stand selling processed food and basic items for blueberries and chantrelles. 8-)

How about you telling us what "real blueberries" are then?

The only relative information I quickly found on domestic and wild blueberries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blueberry

edit: just wanted to clarify my search parameters

I believe they are known as "billberries" in America, maybe in other anglo countries too.

That's 'bil-" with one 'L' ;) I believe a literal translation of the word would still "blueberry" if you go back in the taxonomy of the English language far enough. (and it is literally "blueberry" in some languages)

from wiki: Bilberries are found in very acidic, nutrient-poor soils throughout the temperate and subarctic regions of the world. They are closely related to North American wild and cultivated blueberries and huckleberries in the genus Vaccinium. One characteristic of bilberries is that they produce single or paired berries on the bush instead of clusters, as the blueberry does. Blueberries have more evergreen leaves.

guess that means they can be grown, I was wondering why blueberries would be in europe during the weird ages but bilberries explains it. but still if you're allowed to grow foragables, it makes foraging useless after you get your basics...I say keep it as is
