My First Thoughts and Idea's.

Hello. This is my first ever post on the forums and as seen it is my FIRST day on Haven and Hearth. Well i guess second day as i got to play for about 15 minutes in one day AND THEN the real day begun. Anyway i would like to share my ideas and thoughts on the game. As long with some things i find to be a bit annoying in the game. PLEASE NOTE: I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS GAME FOR TWO DAYS. DO NOT JUDGE ME AS IF I HAVE HAD THE GAME FOR A LONG TIME.

Character 1: Yay my first character!! *20 minutes of trying to figure out how to make a person later* Okay finally im in the wilderness. Woooot....... The heck am i going to do? After about 5 minutes of running around i decided to take branchs and bough's and what not from the trees. After a while i figured out how to make a leanto or however you pronounce it. So i got a Rough Bed thing of sorts and right clicked it and it said SLEEP. my first thoughts were: Sleep? IS THERE A SLEEP METER IN THIS?!!?

So i hit sleep and it made me quit. Of course i lol'd a bit after that cause it was random enough. So i jump back in and i see a Rabbit. Of course i do nothing with it but i try to see if i can like tame it or something. Of course these are my first thoughts. So i walk. AND I SAY WALK after it. It was to fast so about 2 minutes later i gave up. So after that im running around my little encampment and i see something moving and i could NOT tell what it was. So i walked up to it and of course. its a Boar. it knocks me on the ground and im thinking in my mind WTF? of course it didint look like a Boar to me so after i looked at it a bit more i noticed it was a boar. Obviously i was pissed cause he knocked me on the ground. But he left me alone after soo Yeah i was lucky there cause on the forums i think getting attacked by a boar and living is Lucky?? i guess so. So after i woke up *after 10 god damn minutes* i noticed my hunger bar was yellow and i sall a bit of red in it so i started to panic. And i tried to figure out how to get food. Of course i failed and ended up jumping off him xD. That was the end of that.



Character 2: Okay attempt NO.2 with this game.. So i enter the game and do what i did with character one. Get branchs get bough or trunks or whatever they are (Remembering for the loose.)

After a while i figured out.. THERE WERE SKILLS AND LEARNING POINTS. I Started calling myself stupid cause i dont know how i didint notice it on my first character. So i pick up fishing RIGHT? Yeah i got that and tried to go fishing. OF course i needed a fishing pole. SO I MADE ONE! i equipped it and tried fishing. NOPE. it wouldint let me so i was saying WTF WHY CANT I FISH!!!? Of course it showed me on the screen there was a string and a hook i think with the fishing pole so i thought i had everything. So i go ahead and try for a hour.. and again i jumped off of him cause of starvation! YAY SECOND CHARACTER FOR THE LOSE!


Character 3: Okay i have finally learned how to play this game.. A bit.. I hope.. Meh probably not. So i do all the nit picky character creation stuff and i jump in right? Well okay so im starting up on him and what not playing around and i see a tree with red dots on it. Of course i thought it was a apple tree. HELL YEAH i was right. So i go to pick apples and im thinking: How much of the food bar would it restore? Later on i tried it and it restored about 10%

Atleast i think.

Later on that day i decided to go around with my newly found hunting and i think foraging skill. ITS NOT LIKE A BEAR WOULD WALK UP and kill me or knock me out right? WRONG. of course i didint see it. And it decided to knock me down. YAY ME *10 friggin god damn minutes later* I wake up. Of course im pissed off again that i had to sit there for 10 more minutes. And after a while i get back to my base. i have a little tent thing i CANNOT make the rough bed for some reason however. (If somebody knows why tell me please) So im doing good right now with this guy. Got a crap ton of apples some mulberrys and what not. Thats my story for now. Hope you enjoyed it i will post/edit more later to show you my progression with the story. NOW ONTO MY THOUGHTS AND IDEAS.



Idea 1: i thought that maybe they could give some food at the start? or improve the hunger bar a bit for newbies like me? I had trouble finding food on my first two people cause i didint know were to get them and fishing was a fail for me (i figured out what i needed later so im working on getting a fishing pole now along with the other needed items) So maybe for there first character can you like improve there hunger bar and maybe give them some food? It'd be nice for new players seeing as i cant find a tutorial for the game. xD


Idea 2: Maybe.. JUST MAYBE... make it to were theres less time when were knocked out? I am kinda annoyed cause i have to wait 10 minutes to finally get up and get back to what i was doing.

I am somewhat annoyed by the Learning Points system of the game its very slow and for new players like me i dont really have a clue on how to get LP. If anyone knows how and can write a list of things to get LP from please tell me. Id give you a smiley face and a cookie ingame (if there is such a item in the game)


I am annoyed a bit by finding no players around me like THERE ALL GONE. i dont find any players. I know the game has like 100-650 players but CMON i want players at my place. I WOULD HAPPILY share my hearth fire code with you but. im afraid ill get robbed. Is there someway to protect your place? i heard there is a item. But i heard its a pain to create as well.

Thats all i actually have. If i considered this a review i would give it a 7.8/10 Really good game bit of lag and a lack of tutorial for new players. But overall the game is AMAZING. With all the creations and what not. Without further ado i bet your annoyed at this LONG LONG LONG post i made. So ill leave you guys alone for now. Bye.

There's some basic philosophies behind the game, if you don't agree with them, you probably are never going to agree with the game because those things won't ever get changed. It's great to post ideas when the audience is receptive of them, otherwise you should just keep your thoughts to yourself. I'm afraid you're not going to have much of an audience here as everything you mention as an idea has already been thought of or been in the game and summarily rejected or removed.

Also, there's a lot of good guides and helpful links in the new player section labeled "How Do I?" If you had bothered reading them, you wouldn't have floundered for so much of your game time. If you want to learn things on your own, that's great, but don't go writing a thread of complaints and suggestions on how to fix those when others have invested their time in creating things so you don't have to flounder.

FYI, the proper spelling is lean-to or lean to, as in it's a mesh of branches, boughs, or what have you that you lean towards something to keep it up at an angle to sleep under. It's basic survival 101 that any boy scout, boot camp graduate, or camper knows how to make. It may go by other names in other languages. I'm not that savvy of a survivalist.

There is no sleep meter. Sleep only has one benefit, however, as a new player, it won't be worth much.

There is no winning. There is only a journey. We all come to the same conclusion in the end: death. As immortalized by the great guys at Bay 12 Games: Losing is Fun!

As a note: players used to start with more than a shirt and pants but they were removed because it detracted from the theme of the game. You don't have to worry too much about food unless you get to starving. There are penalties for not staying above hungry, but they are minor annoyances unless you're getting injured (which you shouldn't be as a new player).

You're unconscious for all of ~60 seconds. I'm not sure why you decided to stay on the ground for 10 minutes? Once the birds circling your head disappear you can get up and do stuff again.

It's also meant to be something of a survival game so the wild is treacherous and food should be difficult to come by initially. Being attacked by wild animals and starving to death is a fundamental part of the early game. Over time, as you develop as a player and character you overcome these trials and they become non-issues as you move into different challenges.

ALRIGHT sorry for not posting or editing my post at all but did ANYONE notice the fact i was a NEW PLAYER. i dont know to much of the game i dont know exactly what to do or what to do. Some of the posts you guys have made are kinda referring as if i was a player who's played a good while it seems. I know half the things i said are wrong i bet but CMON its not THAT bad is it? its a simple post regarding my FIRST THOUGHTS of the game and my FIRST IDEAS. no one said my ideas were made up after like 20 days of playing. They were just my first ideas i didint know then.

*AHEM* Ever heard of A NEW PLAYER? I mean cmon SOME new players like me dont wanna check the wiki or youtube to immedietly get a Amazingly easy start. It just ruins the game for me.

Yeah i am lucky on not finding anyone as a Newb. But hey they were my first characters not like i was ganna lose anything amazingly important xD

Also with the guides im going to refer you to the quote i made of the post above you maybe two posts above you. But not the part were i was acting like a jerk. Just mainly the part were i mentions i didint wanna check the wiki before i started cause it'd ruin the game

I was pertty sure there were some philosophies behind the game. I dont disagree with them.


Yes i know there are guides read the first two posts xD Im ganna take a guess and say you didint read them yet but just read the quotes i made to them. well the 2ND one anyway. If you want to see me be a bit angry with the first post go ahead and rea its quote.


"There is no sleep meter" I figured that after a while and might i ask. What is the bonus? Is it Learning Points? Learning Abillity? Study Points, what? xD

We used to start with more then a shirt and pants? I didint know that. Thanks for telling me. I normally dont read older times in games before playing because i want to see what its like atm as a new player and then check back on the old times. Mkay?
