I can put water in a tanning tub without leatherworking (and add bark and a dried hide and end up with leather).
I can not put water in a barrel without the winemaking skill. This costs 1000lp which is a significant loss to a noob.
Its likely that a noob (later on as the game becomes more and more well known) will come across a barrel before having a use for winemaking...other than filling a barrel with water.
If a barrel can hold water and wine it should also hold milk for transport.
A Wine Barrel should be called Barrel...because it is.

Theres a few minor bugs here.
1. Leather can be created without any skills whatsoever. This is inconsistent with other simple tasks.
2. Wine Barrels are called Wine Barrels even though it can be used to put water inside as well.
3. Wine Barrels should be able to hold milk.
4. Winemaking should not be needed to put liquids in a barrel.

There's the curding tub, although you can't extract the milk back for other uses like butter making.

I think it should be implemented after animal domestication.

That way, we can trade bulk amounts of milk or whatever easily, when we have cows. Nowadays, the most milk you'd trade would be about 20l or so. Milk is quite hard to come by unless you live near a grassland.

Though, I agree with this. Barrels should hold anything that is a liquid, though I would like it if they could hold foods too. It might help implement rotting? If stored in a barrel it decreases the time it takes to rot :p

This, I'm slightly annoyed at that.

it should be fixed as soon as possible. there is no lack of milk, if you ask me. its the lack of transportation. thats why you dont get milk, only butter.
i could trade you hundreds of liters of milk, and i guess so could others. of only i was intelligent enough to put milk into barrels^^
