The world of Haven & Hearth

Postby Nask » Sat Dec 03, 2011 2:24 pm

I thought these idea's would be nice:

No world reset anymore! Ores grow back in 30 days, Tree's grow back in 30 days (if trunk is still standing), personal claims are being deleted if there isn't activity on it for 20 days(criminal acts don't count as activity) and hf is auto destroyed in 25 days if not logged into the char. If anyone have got more idea's i would like to hear it (only serious idea's) and i hope jorb and loftar will use this.

I would imagine when the game gets closer to a "finished" state, there will be very few world resets. As it stands, the world resets because of data corruption (the cause of like half the world resets so far i think), or for major updates. Growing trees/ore back won't save us from world resets due to these things =p. If space ever becomes an issue, i imagine the world will be expanded.

Though you raise a valid point about personal claims, they should disappear if the player is inactive.

H&H is nowhere near developed enough to stop resetting the world periodically -- if that's what the devs even want. And what is your reason for wanting it that way?

Why?

Why?

because a "no reset world" mean an infinite regenerable world.
It's just a little imagination.

earth doesn't reset...we're running out of some natural resources.

also if you chop down a tree and leave a stump what kind of sense does it make for it to regrow? game mechanics are set as real as possible in most cases. if a stump is in your yard, it stays in your yard til you remove it, it doesn't sprout a new tree. there was an idea suggested not long ago about having forests spawn new trees, and that seems more like something that would be likely than a stump becoming a new tree.

There isn't enough competition for resources as it is. I don't think that having non-renewable resources like ore automatically regenerate will help that.

Actually that is false. Stumps can grow the tree again. You can also facilitate this by cutting it in a certain manner, but the stump can regrow regardless sometimes.

This is true. Plus regening ore just helps the multi-accounters who've locked down the high quality resources with claims (when they use the resource up, provided it's not unlimited).

If you want to get picky about it, there's a lot more to it than that. The truth of the matter is: you want a tree gone, you need to remove and/or kill the stump so nothing will grow back. That's reality.

Some people are just going to claim everything in site to try and prevent others from gaining access to it. Does it really work? If you can make a large enough claim, it does. (500k - 100k LP in it is usually good enough.) It makes for some massive banners/statue building to get enough Authority to revoke the pclaim. I'm not sure how many villages hit the 10M authority mark in w5, but I understand Pandemonium hit 20M+ only a couple months into the world with mostly banners.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

But we stopped expanding it several months before the world ended. It could have been quite a bit over 20 million by then and it is really easy to keep that up.
