I always miss the feeling of a new world where surviving is a moment-to-moment thing where the wildlife pwns you and if you spawn in a coniferous forest your hunger bar is on the third and final fill as you desperately search for ant hills and rabbits... Then of course you learn fishing or some such and you're good to go for the rest of the world. Unfortunately not much of a survival game :(

So true. You only need to work on surviving for the first week or two while you're setting up your place. After that, it's just maintenance and quality building unless your place gets demolished and you need to rebuild. Once you have a brickwall, the biggest threats to you are bad luck, an act of stupidity on your part, or a very determined foe.

It's been less than a week and I already have so many carrots and pie that I need to forcefeed myself so that I don't run out of storage space.
Although I've been overextending my claim so it's probably a matter of time before an irritated palibasher comes along and breaks my house.

If this were the 11th century, and I saw the OP walking through a forest, I would surely jump out from behind a bush and cleave him with my battleaxe. This seems more like just pointless whining than actual critique or an idea. Death is permanent in the sense that you can't be that character ever again, cannot use the same name, you can only be a descendant. Tell me how that's not permanent. If you consider the harshness of a period, I guess you could say this game is in, it's pretty fair to me. To OP: You wouldn't make it in the Viking age of reality, no doubt.

From my understanding(SCM), the point of this game is to see how many hours the game developers can get you to play through straight without taking a break.

I saw a few people in the past claiming they were on for a week straight. Perhaps you can beat the record, why not try? You know you want to.
