if i remember well, global chat was a feature of ender or modified clients that connect on irc, right? The standard client should not have it, i never used any global chat neither knew that there was one.


Anyway i'm half sure that isnt in the standard client so you cant ask to devs to fix irc chat.

Tell me if i'm wrong.

dumb ass if you read what I wrote it clearly states that your friends have you kinned, anyone else with a name similar to yours will appear as unknown. if they go to your friend's place they won't have any acess at all. either read what I wrote, or use a better translator if you're a non native English speaker. don't go beserk calling people morons because you're fucking ignorant!

you can use global chat from standard client, from what I understand its not part of the chat box though(control C).

Global chat is rubbish most of the time but when u r bored building pali or some such it can help pass the time, also i have met some good friends via global and got lots of constructive help as well as being able to help noobs who go there looking for help.
Point being its not all bad.

This same problem has happened to me as well, with some idiot with my name using awful language all over global and calling ppl names - highly embarassing, i pointed out to everyone it was not me, said bye and left global and just hoped ppl realised it wasn't me, but it is a shame it can happen in the first place, so i sympathize with u drinktheevil.

It's indicative of your relationships if your friends can't tell discrepancies in your attitude, language, and demeanor. That said, global is, at best, a half developed feature that was just sort of implemented and then never touched again. Using it is at your own peril as there is virtually no hope of it being upgraded any time soon. Like all things in the game world it is unmoderated. It would be wisest to kin friends who you've made, as everyone has said, to prevent any confusion as kinlists are much more developed than global chat is. Beyond that, as with all perilous adventures, go into global chat ready to fight.

Hi there. Here is a tip to you: do not use global chat. Use a more authentic chat such as a registered name in IRC or skype (registered for the former so they cannot take your name). You're pretty much putting yourself in a handicap position even without global chat since when you die, you lose all contact information on that character. To start off with, I recommend going to the goon #haven chatroom in synirc.net.

The global chat in IRC has virtually no features: no buddy list, no identification, not even name restriction. You can even use this in the chaaracter creation room and change your name each time you chat while in that room. If you are so paranoid about having your name taken, it is 10 to the 6th degree worse in global chat where anyone can be named jorb. It is even expressed by loftar that he does not like a universal chat either. There really is no reason to use global chat.

Oh! You're thinking of the irc extension that pacho started with his client. I know arksu attempted to integrate this as well. I'm not sure if Ender's did but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a feature you could enable. There's an actual built in global chat as well.

LOLZZZZZZ we arent even talking about my friends douche bag we are talking about the ability for ppl such as yourself to make a new character with the same name as someone else...once again read all posts and looking like a dumbass(i.e. You are now) WOULD HAPPEN ALOT LESS. What you are talking about has no pull here...my kinned friends are way too fucking far away, and it woukd only be unknown in a party chat ot global chat which is 50% of what we actually are talking about...get on the right fucking subject. And considering i started with standard client thinking i was all alone...(f u kin window) its nice to talk to ppl somewhat and give helpful advice to others.
