See, that's where your thinking is skewed. If everyone took this approach to life, we'd all still be pushing plows by hand and winnowing seed with straw baskets. I like to apply the same productivity philosophies I use in life to how I play games. I find I have more time to do the enjoyable things rather than wearing myself out with the tedium.

No bots were hurt during the making of this computer game.

I like how it went from, why don't we just have a bot to do simple tasks, to THE LAZIES WANT TO AUTOMATE EVERYTHING!! *PANIC*

That's not how the thread went at all though? The OP wanted a bot to literally play the entire game for you and construct a fully functional village, performing all tasks automatically. Everyone immediately said "lolno" and it was pretty consistent from there.

A possible way to screw over all custom client, would be to create a mandatory new client that can be used, and write some codes so the server will only use that client and none other? From what I gathered, the client is basically 'outsourced' somehow and the devs can't close it... But that doesn't mean they can't alter the server so it doesn't accept it.

Then again, you have programmers and their decompiling methods... So it might not last very long if there are a bunch of dedicated coders who can make custom clients, to figure out how your servers verifies the clients and add that into their clients (dunno if they would rather spend time cracking a indie mmo, or create hacks for other mmo, or both)...

Better hope for someone to make another survival mmo that's not going to turn out like this game maybe? Oh wait I forgot they were making Salem...

That sounds like "H&H: The Sims".

Also, whoever makes a survival mmo... Is it really inevitable that a bunch of hardcore russians will migrate into it, based on the culture we would commonly know?

I don;t see a problem with a bot as long as there is a price to balance it out. like having the bot run on Village authority or consume a certain amount of LP.
