nah nah, i'm talking about that wierd monocycle mr garrison invents in a southpark episode, the one where you control it by a dildo in your mouth and bottom :D

people will do anything if peers say it's a good idea

Isn't that a bad analogy though? You're comparing the Amish to a futuristic piece of technology whose only downside was a minor design piece. It wasn't even that it was a bad idea spurred on by peer pressure it was that it was superior in every way, shape, and form.

ever study prototype monocycles?, i dont know if thats the correct word, far as i am concerned, without some advanced predictive input software, maybe a gyro ic or two, they are not good idea's, let alone, robust idea's

who cares anyway?, the world has much more important things to waste it's billions of funding and scientific research on, like V8 supercars!, someone once theorized that V8 super cars were the main reason man does not have colonies on the moon

on a third note, the whole message had one meaning, and i think it both reletively clear and self amusing

The meaning was actually rather diminutive to its point, of which being "I have no real argument, I'm just here to sling an insult at a group."
When even that falls down that's not something to be proud of as far as messages go.

If you wish to be satirical then build yourself around an idea rather than a tangent. Bizarre extremes rarely make a worthwhile point on their own.

Not many people have chosen to discuss the actual topic here, which was never to populate the map with npc's

but merely to create a small controlled excercise in which a town functioned by itself. a curiosity for a random person to encounter, enjoy, and move on thinking 'my god it's like 8-bit theater, whats with all the david bowie refferences?'. the concept was an intricate piece of automation, not how horrible a few chinbeards with too much time and a groovy script can be.

how many people actually discussed a concept?, and how many just trolled?, or threw stones?
I said it before, it's like watching the rednecks at a federal election, only i cant actually witness the spittle.

any developers here understand me? thumbs up on that robots video btw

Very well, if you would like a real discussion of this idea then it breaks down to this: You do not have foresight.
You're asking for someone to produce a bot that will, from the ground up, play the entire game for you. In the benevolent scholarly sense of the idea, hey that's cool because it's a neat little bauble that someone can find in the world. Nothing was really learned from this experiment besides the idea that the entire game is bottable and if this is the case then the framework of the game really needs to be redesigned.

In the real sense of this idea someone is going to go, oh hey I can use this to produce steel for myself and to gather rare curios. They're going to snip parts of the script that aren't necessary and loop the parts that they want. They then run five, twenty, a hundred of these to build their city for them and feed the city everything. This player and all players with similar access to the script now have absolute control over local and global economy as they have a tireless, sleepless labor force which consumes nothing and is easily and immediately replaceable. You will have, in every sense, added robots to the world.

It has nothing to do with fear of change, it has everything to do with playing the game becoming obsolete. You will never be capable of competing with someone running these bots. Not economically, militarily, or imperialistically. Worse yet they will actively be stomping on you. What happens the moment someone decides that the bots are capable of sustaining X village size of their own while they're only using Y? They set bots to expand their village size to consume entire supergrids. Even on a smaller scale with much simpler bots w4 saw its utter demise to players running bots to farm, mine, and train their characters for them. Players with insane stats and access to resources well beyond anyone else in the world.

You might say that this isn't what the point of the bot is. No, the point of the bot was to be able to simulate every aspect of hearthling life and then be a bauble? Who would then be killed and robbed by the first passerby because, hey it's just a bot, who cares?

thats already happening to some small scale.

but let get real about this, who can really be bothered devoting the machine power to drive such bots? and more importantly, do i care?, if your capable of using the bot, thats only a few steps away from being able to adapt your own scripts, cut and paste is a powerful tool

besides, i did not want someone else to do it, i wanted to do it myself. To some lesser extent i succeeded in a half assed way, a few thank you's to nameless parties. the project was over a while ago and my computers are back to running my repraps, solidworks hates hnh, just as an arduino does. i have work to do

I do remember posting this a while ago. If you think bots are not stomping people already, then i wonder if you actually play the game?

If someone can really be bothered hosting a heap of immortal bots that search and terraform what they find back into nature, including hearthlings :D
or some architect bot that would create a town from noob, or cheap forage bots that log in at hearth in a swamp, forage it, hearth to village idol, empty inv into a large chest, drink wine, drink wine and hearth and log out

those things exist, well i've never seen an architect bot that works.

was asking for idea's on a quaint little town some random could visit, earn some money from npc's, trade with other npc's , buy a beer n a meal at the pub, blah, a fun little isolated experience. it's not about leaving it up there, it's about achieving it, and for me personally, moving on. Know what a RUV with a caterpiller drive looks like?, well instead of getting involved in forum fire fights... i should probky get back to that
if someone steals these scripts from me while i work on them, then they are talented, because i rarely share unless someone shares first or i know the person well, i'm self centered like that, if that person then missuses the script, then... thats a hell of alot of passion.

I'm not some chair locked diabetic chinbeard with 'chronic fatigue' syndrome and a government pension. I'm not distributing, never was, just asking for idea's

Your refutation was and always has been "I don't actually care, I'm better than you all."
Point in case, you were the one who never wanted or made an attempt at discussion in this Entire thread. Yet you continue to necro it and insult others.

That you can swallow blows to your pride so casually is a testament to your ego but you answered everything yourself. What I mentioned has been happening on a small scale to some degree for a very long time now. Your proposal was a much bigger version of a problem no one enjoys having to deal with. Please tell me you can see why No one has liked your idea.

Your idea wasn't "Lets create a fun and unique experience!" It has always been "Lets make a problem worse!"

You have absolutely no clue why they put this in the game.
