As a new player, you're not going to be punching anything in one hit, not even a frog. And they've got 1 HP. Even with a low Q soldier's sword, a new player will do just enough damage to kill a boar or fox.

The point is to provide a weapon that does something more than a stone axe so that you don't have to chop the target up into diced pieces to kill it. I'm not sure what your original idea was, but that gap is what needs filled (which was my understanding of the original item). Nothing you put in that gap will allow a new character to 1-hit kill anything bigger than a fox at low quality.

Well currently I have a q13 bronze sword, 12 str and 3mc on an alt, 2 UA also
I sling a boar and sting once and it kills, every time

That's because you just took half it's life with the sling. Hardly what I'd call "one hit". That bronze sword is better than the militia sword and is strong enough to 1-hit a boar by itself. Heck, it's good enough to 1-hit kill a bear at q40 and a smattering of strength if you can stand up to it in melee.

The wooden sword is intended with that in mind for hunting, sting is very useful for early hunting is what I'm getting at and it beats punch in this case

Right, we're arguing around the same point: something to fill that gap between a stone axe (50 base damage) and the militia sword (250 base damage). Something between 100-150 would be awesome. It'd be strong enough you could use it to hunt bears at a good quality and strength, but not so much that you're going to use it in battle late game. The big thing being: it doesn't need metal or doesn't need much metal.

Make it a spiked bone club (1-2 logs, 1-2 bones) or a bone sword (1 log, 2 bones) with base damage around 75-100. Both of them feel a bit more convincing of what you can hunt with.

the spiked bone club sounds like an ok option
the bone sword doesn't(I like the idea, but the concept baffles me)
and you'll need something with more damage. I'd actually like to see a variety of weapons added not only to fill that gap but also some options to the weapons we already have...at a certain point in game everyone will just be using the exact same thing. for a sandbox game that sounds weird, there should be variety.

Wasting time waiting for the extra IP to OK. Just get enough for a sting if you have a sword. Defensive weight is always zero when the target is on the move.

i prefer to use axe because its easy to split the object once you hit it.
