It currently is way too easy. Once you have your walls up after the first couple days of the world, there is virtually nothing to worry about for most players.

so i'm seeing everybody is basically saying, that they'll just dir or metal plow it.

True you can do that, but you would have to refill curios every 30 min(crafted kind, not the ones you find along the way)

and while your doing that, you would have to be active. so no plowing or digging when you are asleep or at work(well work for most of us)

But like ddhoward said, every aspect of this game, including even combat, can be performed by a script. so it doesnt really matter until the devs find a way to end "botting" that is, if they want to.

but guys i've stated these facts already, so please help me understand your view point. cause i know i wouldnt wanna just run in a straight line or even in circles with a metal plow for hours on end, just to run up my LP. this idea i had was basically a way to kill "alt army" and "Bots" but my knowledge on scripts was not suffecient, since every aspect of this game, including even combat, can be performed by a script.

so it's all for not.

mate we used to have a damn everything gives lp system( hint: it sucked and got replaced by what we have now). what we got now isnt great but its already proven better then anything that gives lp for performing actions. any actions in any situation.

kral

if i had it my way, there would be no bots. like i said in previous posts, i didnt know you can make a script for every damn aspect of the game. hence why i said we all Are Fucked.

now lets imagine that this game had no bloody bots. if ya can do that, would you still want the current LP system? or would you want my new idea or the old system.

on whatever you choose Please explain Why you would choose that.

this system cause it makes people work towards curios.

in the old system id just repeatedly do the most profitable in terms of time and effort thing. which likely means i just end up making a milion buckets myself.

bot or no bot lp reward for doing something can not work.

I like a couple of the ideas of small buffs from curios and such, and it might be worth further discussion. If something good can come out of it, then it might actually get some attention and consideration. It's an even better idea if personal beliefs get scrapped.

Let's not let this devolve into a fruitless discussion on getting LP for actions. Both of you have forum join dates of w3 or earlier, so it's a pretty safe assumption you both know how that system turned out. It encouraged botting more than anything else could have. The mods have pretty much taken a 'lock all threads' on this stance since w5 started nearly a year ago, and further discussion will just degenerate further. I'd like to hear some more about these small curio buffs, so please stick to that. ;)

The problem now is 'alt-itis': making alts to do everything, even duplicate alts so that if your warrior dies, then you have 3 or 4 to replace it. Death in a perma-death game should never be trivial, and that's probably the best way to describe the current situation for any faction or even hermit that has developed an economy. I had about 4 alts last world just because I could keep them all fed with all the extra stuff I produced as a hermit.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

thats what i was tryin to say, i think?

i dont like the idea that death is trivial for some and devistating for others. it seems to me that if that idea can be fixed, we'll have the politics of the old days(which i for one wish to get back)

i thought of having foragable curios for temp buffs because that would get peeps out exploring for all kinds of different curios(i mean different curios for different skill bonuses). But when i had written this thread, i didnt know how deep the "bot" cancer was, i didn't know that you can do everything with scripts.

With that new bit of info, it really doesn't matter.
