Sleep: Curiosity Buff

Postby Trenix » Mon Apr 02, 2012 10:29 pm

Problem:

The only purpose for sleeping is to reduce travel weariness. That's something that alcoholic beverages and drugs can already do. Beds don't offer anything unique nor do they get enough attention they deserve.

Idea:

After you wake up from sleeping, you should get the "Open Mind" buff. The duration of the buff should be based on how many hours you sleep. For example, sleeping for one hour should make the buff last for one minute. The buff should also be capped at a certain duration, like 1 hour which would be 2.5 days of sleep. Anything over 2.5 days of sleep, will not improve the open mind buff that you will acquire when you log in. The idea is that a well rested mind will wake up refreshed, allowing for better studying.

Affect:

The open mind buff will make curiosities be learned faster by 15% or less. It will only be in affect when the player is logged in.

Getting awfully Fallout up in here, however, I do like the fact that Sleep would actually be useful.

I do not support this. People shouldn't get rewards for not being logged on. :D

Plenty of games use this system. I know Wurm Online is one of them, so is World of Warcraft.

It's perfectly fine to disagree. I understand what you're saying but people are not really rewarded for having a bed. Another thing, some players have jobs and things to do, this would allow them to quickly reach where they're supposed to be at. It also isn't that rewarding, because it will be capped. So logging out for weeks is not going to be encouraged. Besides, logging out for a long period of time isn't a good idea anyway.

And btw, JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, how many suggestions did you make the last few days? How long have you even been playing? Get used to the game first before you spew more suggestions.

People already lose some TW when they sleep, isn't that enough?

No I don't care for the idea. It only creates more people who only log in to get points and load up curios. Then they go back to sleep. Earn it! Don't expect it handed to you for doing nothing. At least curious you have to gather or craft.

You have gather resources and craft a bed too. Of course a better bed would give you more rested learning points.
