i wasnt there or didnt see it when jorb was commenting on it, but i remember loftar mentioning about implementing it with more details, such as how long each season would be and how and what kind of effects it could bring. he also said it would take much longer than we could expect.
overhauling the game with whole new codes, new map gen and all is the priority for haven, and atm salem is the prime priority over everything else. i dont think they even read threads in here unless someone from Inner Party finds it extremely good and suggests devs to read directly.

anyways, op being new to the game isnt such a problem, but him/her NOT knowing(or ignoring) that we will be having a big overhaul (sometime after salem development is done) and that most suggestions would be only useless, making multiple ignorant suggestions is, sorry to say, quite lame.

*edit*
i dont know where i got the idea of op being new... hmm, well sorry and please disregard it.

Ok, maybe it was loftar in one of his super-rare appearances on the forums. ;)

Figured that's where he got the idea from.

Seasons have been brought up, and Jorb has even commented about wanting to maybe try and implement something like it, but there's those annoying constraints of "how" and "when", the "when" being the big issue over the last year and a half.

Actually, the idea was built up from Xsyon, a crafting sandbox MMO and Jungle Troll Tribes, which was a custom map in Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. Of course I spiced it up so it would fit nicely in Haven & Hearth. I wouldn't be playing a game like Unreal World. When it comes to 2D games, Terraria and Haven & Hearth is as far as I'm going.

And here is the idiocy of the modern gamer....

Friend, you don't know what you're missing. Spread your horizons more. The greatest games ever are pretty much still 2D (some of which are from 15 and 30 years ago).

We believe the greatest games were during our childhood. It's not the fact that they actually were, it's just that they're part of our childhood memories which is why we overestimate them. For example, my favorite game was Dungeon Keeper. Things would be different if we grew up with the new generation. The fact of the matter is, we advanced and it's about time ALL games do too. That's why I'm one of those people who will definitely move over to Salem.

i definately remember playing a game with warmth recently, not unreal world like suggested, i can however verify how awesome that game is, i don't remember warmth mechanics being particularly fun, just boring and a pain in the ass, stopping you from making progress because it's raining, considering the day/night cycle is 8 hours (right?)
some people spend considerably more time playing at "night" so they'd have to take special measures to be warm, and it'd just be a pain in the ass
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

I suppose you'd just have to make sure there were interesting things to do when it was raining.
