Taming

Postby Westraptor » Mon Apr 02, 2012 6:51 pm

I see no reason why taming should take so long, I recently started taming and I need a male cow. I got 4 females in a row and im the only one in my village willing to take the time to tame animals. Im just suggesting that you make taming shorter or let the player choose the gender of the animal. if i get another female i will swim -_- a one tile river

Well now youll have a lot of breeding mates when you get a bull. Much better then getting 4 bulls :D

It would be cool if you tamed baby animals rather then the adults, no punching them into submission, more of a pet thing. Of course you need to kill the adults in a typical herd in order to take the babies. And the babies take a while to grow up and you need to do the tames periodically while they grow in-order for them to grow up tame rather then wild.

You could just use the trick to have them aggro you faster. After taming walk away and deaggro the herd. Then come back and aggro any other herd member EXCEPT the one your taming. Wait for taming CD and continue. If your that much impaishent that you cant wait out the 1min CD then combat meditation might help, although never tested it.

Honestly, taming in its existing form leaves much to be desired so it's worth complaining about. It's heavily unintuitive and long rather than difficult.

I have to say taming is total fubar cause auraches and muflen cant break through fences. I remember when I first tamed boars I fenced them inside a stone fence. Then this one time I accidentally let it out. It was a intense free tame experience, similar to actual close combating a boar. With only 75 UA and never going toe to toe with a boar I nearly shat my pants and with no flasks in inventory was forced into combat against it. I can honestly say that it was more then fun taming that perticular boar. Interestingly he actually frikin aggroed me instantly afterwards. I was running like a girly girl around the base hoping I wont run out of stamina and with a 1min long CD timer making me a easy target. I cleverly ran on paved ground running wild yelling to get out of the way cause this rapist boar was after me. But I managed to tame it and got some interesting facts out of it all. Freetaming actually gets you aggroed faster. If you actually killed of all the aurache herd members and free tame the last one you wouldn't have to wait to long for it to aggro you again. I think its because of the fence abuse it makes it takes longer to get it to aggro you. If you actually tamed the way it was intended 1UA chars wouldn't have access to cows, sheep or pigs. I have tamed 4-5 pigs this way and I cant say its boring and it wont take more then the time it takes for the CDs to cool down + the combat event.
