Possesion rights

Postby Westraptor » Wed Apr 04, 2012 5:06 pm

Ok, so say you are on a friends claim and you have trespassing rights but no theft rights and you leave something of yours on there claim or someone steals something of yours and you want it back without leaving a theft scent. My idea is possession rights If you make something and you have yeomanry(or an entirely new skill) you can claim that item in case it is ever stolen or left on another claim. I'm thinking maybe there is a skill that lets you posses stuff you want at the price of LP or when you craft or build something on your claim you own it . :D

But that would then make the Theft skill ineffective. u dont need a claimed item, just go and get it back. If you can't handle leaving scents then you don't really want that item back in the first place.

Seems like this sort of "argument" has been brought up before, and there was a dev comment on it. Effectively, don't expect a change to the way the crime and punishment system.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

There is, which is called "Theft", at the cost of 30,000 LP.

"Normal" is only a difficulty level in video games - Aso11
Jackard: Koya only raises the lynx so he can molest it later
Koya: What means "molest" ? Translator cannot translate it or do it with no logics...
"And no im not native to english, I was born in the usa." - A very bad troll.

It's sparked an idea in my head however, when tracking someone down with ranging and then killing them for purposeful justice, or just tracking an item they stole from you, you should be able to take that item without leaving a scent, then they track you down, take the item, so on...

It's kind've odd when the 'justice' is considered injustice. These 'Possession' rights should only apply to this, as the other causes too much conflict >.>

There's no concept of ownership in the game though, only land rights. The game doesn't know that it was YOUR soldier sword that was stolen, only that the soldier sword WAS stolen. You can track the stolen item, but so can anyone else with that theft scent. The way you're describing allows someone ELSE to track down the thief and steal YOUR soldier sword without leaving any scents, leaving you without an item.

Basically you're trying to overcomplicate the system.
