Perfect little indie game :3

Postby Hellkat » Mon Apr 16, 2012 4:28 pm

I have to say, I just joined and I'm already in love with this little game :3 So far I only have two suggestions/caveats that I'd like to see addressed:

1. FIX THE LAG!!! xD - It really goes without saying, and I know this is probably easier said than done, but yeah, it takes some serious persistence to not throw ones arms up in the air and walk away when dealing with the lag in this game. D: I don't know if it's just because I'm in the US, but most people I've talked to ingame so far are of the general consensus that 'this game be laggy'. Maybe this should be the first thing that gets worked on after Salem's sorted, aside from fixing the exploit that's letting people crash the server entirely >.<

2. Make mining more accessible - Especially for people who join a world late, like I did this past week, because pretty much every cave in existence is already claimed by someone, if you can find one at all. D: I'd suggest increasing how many caves spawn in the world as a start, but maybe creating a mineshaft shouldn't be so expensive and difficult? Or maybe you could allow people to dig their own cave holes into a ridgeline. That one sounds like a winner to me :3 Oh, or maybe just make it so you can dig through your house's cellar walls and start mining that way? Anyways, yeah, I know it's one of the last skills a player will develop but mining is one of the more fun things to do in most games of this ilk for me. :3

That's my two cents anyways! ^_^ For now I'm just loving farming, building my own little stretch of land up, and trading with the community near me :3 Fun game! :D

Lag will be fixed when the game is rescripted after salem, and if you have a problem finding caves just make a minehole

I think you missed the entire point of #2 there. XD But it's good to hear the lag issue is top priority already :3

IMO, mining has become a bit too accessible. However, mineholes were made too expensive, and that was pointed out way back in Jan of last year when the changes were made. (Arguments could be made for increasing the cost of the minehole based on what level it was built on so that top-most layer mineholes are relatively cheap with access to bottom-most layers being more expensive. However, that takes dev time which doesn't exist right now.)

Just a heads up: the lag issue is an ongoing thing. Work is being done on it as time permits. I understand some of the server code between HnH and Salem is the same, so if there's an issue in one, there's possibly going to be an issue in the other, and so loftar (the primary code gnome) does spend some time working on the lag of HnH. It's been clearly stated that HnH is a developer's toybox and nothing more with no guarantees as to stability or playability.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

*nods nods* Kay.

Well, for a dev toybox project, it's pretty good :D

It is. Oh, and in case no one said it yet, welcome to H&H. Don't let the boars eat your shoes or the russians raid your complex.

There's unclaimed caves everywhere, you most likely just don't realize how truly massive the world is in this game.

Its not really that hard to mine.

Most cave spots have pretty soft rock.

I do believe OP was complaining about finding a mine, not the hardness of the rock inside of it.

Did they change the build requirements for mineholes? Because in last world, collecting enough wax to make hardened leather was a colossal chokepoint for me.

Granted, I was all by my lonesome, but still.
