Now hold on there, folks. Let's sand off the stupidity a bit. I'd like to see some more early game uses for that 'potions & herbs' button besides making bone glue. Particularly with first aid not quite being effective until you catch some sheep.

My idea? Poultices. Something between leeches and gauze. Not quite as effective as gauze, and requires collecting 'medicinal herbs' (foraging) and brewing in a cauldron.

Yeah... no idea what Jortar was intending when they named it that. maybe they had something more in mind for the long run, maybe just what's there. No idea.

If that's all there is, it's a pretty damn limited skill isn't it?

Well, Herbs & Potions isn't a skill, it's just a category in the crafting menu of items that have no other place to go.

maybe it should be a skill, probably follow the OPs suggestion too.
The sum of my experience is comprised up of more skeletons on my own claim then alot of you guys have wood blocks invested in your wall. But even though these skeles show i am a bad player- i still strive to continue through this vile territory in the hopes that one day i will have an army big enough to find you and murder all you know

chemistry sounds good to me
it doesn't have to be lore breaking : just tone it down to medieval level, i.e. what part of chemistry alchemists knew.
there is much potential to this idea and to this game, why limit ourselves to cooking ?
glue, for instance, would make more sense as a chemistry recipe. Some type of gunpowder could have some uses.

now alchemy would be even funnier, but not in its usual limited definition typically found in video games.
for example, colored glasses are in fact crystallized metals.
ancient musical instruments' varnishes (like Stradivarius violins) are what gives them their special sound.
etc.
alchemy = enchanting matter, not through spells but through working it while being one with it.
