Alternative client

Postby Hipponos » Wed Apr 25, 2012 7:19 am

Hi all!

I would really appreciate help with this.

Vanilla works fine, but alternative clients won't work! The problem is with getting resources (res files) where I get 403 response code. Manually accessing same resource works.

Why vanilla works?
Is there a workaround to get alternative clients working (especially Ender)?

I tried getting .res files manually (you can see how desperate I am) but then I run into OpenGL exception (I guess it's another res problem).

I downloaded all Ender updates and when I'm using the application on my private network (at home) everything works. But when I'm on my corporate network Enders doesn't work.

I think it has something to do with proxy settings and the fact that application uses ports different from port 80. What puzzles me is that vanilla works. I thought that modified clients use same means of communication with servers as vanilla.

When I tried to see what's the problem I noticed that application tries to fetch .res files that are missing from it's folder. I guess it is on demand thing. When there is a need for a resource application tries to get it from the server. When I download the res it's looking for manually and place it at the right place it works... until the next missing res file.

I suppose that if I had all the res files locally application would work... but maybe not... :)

any ideas?

strange enough this ports stuff: they should be the same for vanilla and alternative clients ...

there where some issues with getting res files some days ago but those are solved (expired certificate) - see Bugs section

geeesh - uploading with 3G /UMTS is such a crap... 3kb/s  and when 100% upped - error - but the third attempt finally worked:

http://ul.to/.... (.haven)

packed with 7zip freeware http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

good luck with it

EDIT: file deleted

Thanks borka!

I took your res folder and merged it with mine.

Interesting thing happened... I can't connect anymore even when using vanilla... :)

Yup... tried it...

deleted .haven... tried running vanilla, got "Could not connect to server"... seems I can't get to authorization server now...

On another attempt I got "Connection timed out: connect"

I'll keep trying... :)
