I know that this Mod has been out for a long time and I'm just a noob who just started playing this game but it seems kinda... well "lame" that you gain the ability to see in the dark.
Most of you would say that I should play the default client if I don't like this but to be honest why should someone make the game harder for himself while the others can do it the easy way which gives them a big advantage.

That's probably a reason why everyone is using the mod.
But...

First of all isn't this like cheating?
It does give you a big advantage that isn't in the "original" version of the game.

Also isn't it destroying an important element of this game?
I think torches and fires are implemented for a good reason and while this game is about survival the night and day cyclus should be something that should take effect on you.

I know there were already a lot of threads about this theme for sure but I would really love to hear a reason why it's allowed to legaly "cheat" in this game and why even the developers don't say anything.
Most games I've seen only allow you to change the graphic etc.
Don't get me wrong, I love this game but I just can't get it why you can take a part of the game and simply remove it.

and this discussion has been on for long and prolly don't need a new thread made up ...

As the Devs are busy with Salem so don't expect much investments of work and time into HnH atm...

It's basically cheating yeah, so are all the highlight foragables/animals settings, auto-hearthporting upon seeing another person, mapping clients, nightvision, and of course botting.

It stems from the fact that the devs have abandoned the game for a while to work on salem, and so the players just addressed what they saw as problems with the game by themselves.

Sure, the base game needs more work. Night/day shouldn't just be a question of squinting/gamma settings to see the game. Foraging shouldn't be trying to click on the exact right pixel. Boars shouldn't be able to jump you because they were hidden behind a tree sprite. Cartography should be useful.

But till the game gets some dev love, cheaters gonna cheat.

I don't play anymore.

Most importantly, there are a few ways in which the client can be modified so as to constitute what we would consider cheating (rather minor cheating, but cheating nonetheless). As a matter of policy, we do not allow such clients to connect to our server, or use our resources.


Well, I hope the Devs will think again about this when they have time again.
Of course as long as I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

Remember this is in testing stage and thus progressing and that also means that the devs change their minds about different aspects of modifying. And the longer you'll play you will welcome the pros another than default client gives you... in the beginning it's much more atmospheric playing with daylight/night settings and such (most of us did) - but you'll realize soon that it also means that the default client isn't the best way to play HnH (what even Loftar admits)...
