Combat system discussion vol:XVIII

Postby pablet » Tue May 29, 2012 12:59 pm

I want to restart the combat system discussions. I think fighting is a very important feature of most games, but in H&H its essential as you need it to survive. But if we need it, why is impossible to defend ourselves against a high stat player well armed, even when we could surround him with our whole village population and just kick him to the death

In h&h we got a combat system that makes a high level player unkilleable by even 10000 noobs. Realism is usually promoted by the mods and programers but in the combat system we can see there is no realism at all. The first problem I see is this enormous difference between a high stat and equipued player and a noob one. In real life it's impossible that a trained guy punches 6 at a time without being hit, but in haven he will do so while he dodges the stones you throw at him without problems. This isn't just non-realist but it's not funny, you can't defend yourself if don't have a char who sits all day eating cheese and is equiped by a whole village with the best items.

The second problem I see is an awful and antinatural combat system, it's hard, it has no sense and its boring. As I said it's hard to understand, hard to apply and so fucking boring that I prefer to build a palisade so I don't ever have to spend my time sparring to learn it, when it could be really funny, fast and usable by everyone.

tl;dr: I know it takes time to work on it but seriously, I think this is the most serious problem of the game, a horrible combat system, let's discuss it!

(Also yes, my grammar is almost as awful as the combat system, I did my best).

It seems to me that you just don't know jack shit about combat.

Nice argument, could you answer to any of the upper points?

Ok.

Obviously you never heard of movement combat. A skilled player, even with dramatically lower stats, can outwit a much higher player and land a fatal stab. I've seen it done. The numbers give you an edge, but you can overcome that with a lot of practice.

The fact that you would even think to THROW STONES during a real fight shows you don't know shit about combat.
Also, again, movement combat. Look it up.

I find, as well as a majority of the PvPers, the combat system very fun and it makes perfect sense. It is not the combat system's fault that you are too dimwitted to learn/understand it/read a combat guide.

Ok, a 1 UC "noob" depletes 1.58 DEF of a 1000 UC "high level player" with 100 ATK. So ye, it's possible. And movement combat would work too.

If you mean armors here, then no, armors are not that important.

So, you wanna tell us that you are just a lazy fuck. And fuck you, the combat system is fun.

You are thinking about average equiped, fed and armoured players. A whole army of noobs dont have a 0'0000000000000000001 chance to kill a veteran and you know it.

The fact that you would even think to THROW STONES during a real fight shows you don't know shit about combat.
Also, again, movement combat. Look it up.

This is one of the problems I see, the lack of utility of ranged combat when a fight starts.

I find, as well as a majority of the PvPers, the combat system very fun and it makes perfect sense. It is not the combat system's fault that you are too dimwitted to learn/understand it/read a combat guide.

This is subjective, I don't only find boring, but too complex (and complex doesnt mean alwais bad). It isn't dinamic in any aspect and yes, I have read two guides to learn/understand it resulting in discovering that it was even worst than what i thought.

Ok, a 1 UC "noob" depletes 1.58 DEF of a 1000 UC "high level player" with 100 ATK. So ye, it's possible. And movement combat would work too.

You know he can restore the defense without even sweating, stop dreaming, you know that a noob never wins a fight against a veteran and never wont if this combat systems stays like this.

So, you wanna tell us that you are just a lazy fuck. And fuck you, the combat system is fun.

No, what I say is this system doesnt deserve the time to read a guide and spar (wich I did to see if finally it was funny in more advanced levels).

After this brief discussion, I would like to have a nice argument about this. I don't know your hurry to end up this thread but please stop being so butthurt and try to argue.

Technically a 1uac noob with the punch weight being 0.75 does no damage to defense, as haven rounds down. :P

On the topic of this thread, op is a faggot. You don't even need MERVMENT KAMBERTZ to rape most high tier players if you just Zerg rush them. Learn2oppknocks and such. ;)

There is no reason arguing with you because it is obvious you are just absolutely fucking clueless when it comes to combat and that you have absolutely zero PVP experience in the matter, so you just create a thread to basically bitch and cry about your inability to grasp the combats but you try to obfuscate said temper tantrum as that of a "legit argument thread". GTFO back to your Runescape.

Interesting opinion but It would also be nice to hear less conservative and butthurt opinions. I don't really get why you got to go mad when arguing about a game, if you know more than me just explain why im wrong politely :S. I wonder if you just insult and try to ruin the thread because you ike the game the way it is or are just a frustrated person, in that case don't pay it with me. As I said you can prove your point without being rude.

Also never triyed runescape sorry.

What's also interesting is that whenever you read the retorts to your asinine and retarded statements that you don't want to read, you just dismiss them as "butthurt". The juvenile "butthurt" comeback bro, it isn't working. Your observations about the combat system are incredibly imbecilic, just face it.
